Wow, yes, I'm shocked. Guess Stevie wants to find a money-maker cuz he knows Scott's going down the tubes once he has to use a standard putter. ;)

Yes to me, but I hadn't  previously heard that Stevie was planning on semi-retiring after this year. And possibly the parking lot fight a couple weeks ago solidified his decision. While I don't like Stevie personally, he did seem to help elevate Adam's game over the last few years. I wish Adam well, and Stevie...well, good riddance.

No, not surprising. Williams had said he was gonna go into semi-retirement at the end of the season, and it was in media months ago. The article also cites Williams' decision as the basis for breaking their partnership. Best of luck to both parties.

Scott may do better with someone less volatile yet strong willed (meaning he will politely ask them to stop taking pics before he breaks their camera)

Scott, caddie Williams decide to part ways

Adam Scott and caddie Steve Williams announced Wednesday that they have ended their partnership.

Scott and Williams had worked together since summer 2011, but Williams, 50, said at the start of this season that he hoped to scale back his tournament schedule and spend more time with family in New Zealand.

“After discussing this in detail with Adam it became evident that my plan was not going to fit with Adam’s requirements so we decided to end our partnership,” Williams said.

With Williams on the bag, Scott won his first career major at the 2013 Masters, ascended to No. 1 in the world this past May and developed into one of the most consistent players on any tour, finishing outside the top 25 only once this calendar year.

“Steve has been an integral part of my team in a period where I have fulfilled some of my lifetime golfing goals,” Scott said. “His dedication and professionalism have been without question, and his friendship is highly valued. Our priorities and stages of life are different now, and so we decided that this is the best time to end our partnership.”

At the start of the year, Williams said that he planned to make 2014 his last year as a full-time caddie, and that he nearly retired after the 2013 Masters – a victory, he said Wednesday, that was a “career highlight and a memory I will cherish forever.”

Williams, who also caddied for Raymond Floyd and Greg Norman , worked with Tiger Woods from 2000-2011. Together they won 13 majors, but the relationship soured in 2011 when Williams agreed to caddie for Scott while Woods was injured.

In a statement, Williams said that “if the right opportunity arose I would consider caddying on a part-time basis in the future.”

Maybe, Scott did have some pretty good seasons with Stevie on the bag.

Oops he doesn't like being call Stevie

Settling in at the lectern for his speech, Williams gave Sands the same look he would give a golfer who questioned his yardages. “It’s Steve,” Williams said to the assembled crowd at the Cherry Hills Country Club outside Denver. “Stevie’s what Tiger used to call me, so that’s what everybody calls me. I hate that name.”

His period with Tiger seems to have left it's mark.

Steve said he was going to step down his activity after 2014, and the season is close to over for Adam Scott, so I don't see this as a big surprise. If they've been having some disagreements towards the end, it's probably just as well to end it here if they don't plan on working together for 2015 anyways.

Maybe Scott can hire Joe LaCava after Tiger finds a new caddie to go with his new instructor.

Tiger replacing Joey would not surprise me, I never sensed much chemistry between them.

Scott did ascend to the #1 player in the world, won a Masters and contended for numerous major championships under Stevie. Before Stevie, Adam wasn't contending in any majors. So like or hate Stevie, you have to give credit where credit is due. He's a heck of a caddie. I still think Tiger would have been better off keeping him, but at the same time, I know a lot went on privately that none of us are very aware of that probably caused that divorce.

If, Steve was one of the reasons Adam did well in that period. Correlation does not imply causation.

Good point, but I read somewhere that Stevie actually wants to step down to fulfill his lifelong dream to act as a caveman in Geico commercials and form a WWE tag team partnership with John Daly.

    • I get kidney stones. So 100 oz of water every day. Some nights I drink 32oz between midnight and 6 Am. Which means I dont sleep much.
    • 46 (9 over) Short game and putts were awful!
    • 46+40 for an 86. I just need to play 9 holes on the range before each round. 🤣🤣🤣
    • I don’t measure my intake either. I generally have a black coffee, a bottle of soda, some sweet tea at home, and anything in between is water. An ice cold bottle of water is one of my favorite things. It feels like an immediate refresher for my body. I’ll admit that I need to drink a little more though.
    • For such a nice membership, there have been some bad incidents in the past few years.  We had someone voted out a couple of years ago over something he did and he harassed the board members for three months until he moved out of the area.   Generally they’ve tried to do things like tournament handicaps and identify certain people who they know should be lower and adjust it somehow.  I can understand not wanting to go thru something like the guy who was voted out again i emailed the pro who forwarded it to the handicap committee.  They are going to see what can be done.  I walked someone thru what happened and they are going to nudge him to post the score from the match and see what he does.  Since he didn’t put anything in the electronic scoring past 13, based on how he played 14 and 15 plus having to take bogey on 16-18 for after he left, he should post 83.  We’ll see if it’s even higher,   Since he was really even thru 13, then doubled 14 and parred 15 my guess is he really shot 75 being generous and giving him 2 pars and a bogey on the three holes he didn’t play.    i shot 88, getting 16 shots for my course handicap which is net even and I lost on 13.  We do brackets where handicaps should be within 4-5 of each other.  Most matches only have 1-2 shots as a difference between players  neither of us posted the score yet.  There was something in the match play rules about whether or not to post your score.  I couldn’t remember if we were supposed to or not.  I don’t think he was going to post that, because even with his inflated score it would be the lowest score in his recent 20. Lucky I didn’t because they want to see what he does post and they don’t want me posting so he can try to calibrate his score.
