GAME GOLF + TST Presents a Challenge for All Members!

I'm happy to announce that starting today, and concluding May 31, 2015, The Sand Trap .com has partnered with GAME GOLF to present a challenge in which virtually any member can take part. All you need is a GAME GOLF Classic system (belt-worn unit) or the free app (available for iOS, http://gmglf.co/1aVsIvn, and Android, http://gmglf.co/1MHH6bS ) AND a membership in good standing here on TST which, by the end of this month, has at least 10 approved posts.

The Net Score Challenge will take your GAME GOLF handicap and determine who shoots the best round this month.

The prizes? The winner will receive a signed shirt by the GAME GOLF Tour Pros and a six-month Supporter membership here at TST. The second-place finisher will receive a signed hat by the GG Tour Pros and a three-month Supporter membership. Additionally, one randomly selected non-winning participant will receive some B330 golf balls courtesy of Bridgestone, too!

Naturally, as this is golf, we're relying on everyone's honesty and integrity when submitting scores to the challenge.

From GAME GOLF: Join our new 'Net Score' Challenge and compete against each other on any course in the world. To enter, join this Challenge, upload a round via GAME GOLF Classic system or our new App and post a comment here [this thread] on thesandtrap.com

It's worth noting that to compete in the Challenge via our new Free App. You must sign in via www.GAMEGOLF.com (on your computer) to join the Challenge. You cannot join Challenges via the app (yet). From there, your rounds will automatically be entered after you play using the app.

Here's the challenge page: http://www.gamegolf.com/challenges/1105

So, let's play a lot of golf in May with GAME GOLF and compete against each other for some nice prizes!!

The challenge page is located here: http://www.gamegolf.com/challenges/1105, and entering is easy, but you must enter for your scores to be added to the challenge!

The Rules, in Brief:

  • Golf Professionals, TST Staff, and GG Staff are welcome to participate but ineligible for earning prizes.
  • TST Members must have an account in good standing with 10 approved (non-spam) posts by May 31, 2015.
  • Challenge details are available here: http://www.gamegolf.com/challenges/1105 . You MUST enter before your scores begin counting toward the challenge.
  • Contest is open to anyone in the world. If you live on Earth, GAME GOLF will ship the prize to you.
  • There are no losers. Let's all join and have some fun competing against each other.

Note: it's worth noting that to enter this Challenge, you need to have a GAME GOLF Handicap. To get a GG Handicap, you need to play or have played ONE (1) 18-Hole round. From there, every subsequent round will be included in this Challenge.

    • My two cents? Don't. As a beginner that's interested in learning about the golf swing, you'll find yourself consuming a lot of information, most of which isn't even relevant to your own swing. You need to learn you can't think your way to a good golf swing. Focus on the one thing that you're working on and doing that on every swing, come what may. And remember, mishits happen.
    • Day 6 (7 May 24) - More work in the backyard focused on tempo in addition to setup.  Worked with 6 and 7 irons hitting hard foam balls - used the old MacGregor irons to mix it up a little.
    • No! lol. But they have to be in the right sequence to play mid-handicap golf or little better. Mostly. And even in that there is range/margin for error in the motions and positions that most normal humans can handle. It helps if you have a decent idea of how a golf club moves around the body like you would any other equipment sports (baseball and hockey might be the closest) After all, fairways are 40 yards wide. Don't overthink it. Be diligent in getting basics right. I will concede that it is harder than it sounds but it certainly is not exact angle/exact position/exact degree of bend/exact speed/exact facial expression, etc, every.... single.... time or the result is horrible death.
    • Looking to play in the Severna Park Golf league and it got rained out the first three weeks. I know the course is being renovated so it is not in great shape but the location is easy for me and I would love to meet some other golfers in my area. Anyone here in Maryland Annapolis area?
    • I like to look at the positives.  Overall you are fairly consistent down the center with most shots 20 yards or less off center.  On most fairways that should be in play.  Sure, you had some very short duds, but also if you look there is a good cluster in the 110-125 yard range.  Sure, we would all like to be longer, but knowing your typical shot is more important than trying to hit the 7-Iron 175 Yards.  Just take more club for longer shots and do not worry about it.  Your distances may increase as you improve over time so do not get caught up on that now.
