Sorry to hear the news, @Darkfrog  Here's hoping y'all heal quickly without long term effects.

Thanks - hopefully the only long term effect is enhanced immunity for all of us!

Ah, buddy. I feel for you.
I'll be sure to include you in some prayers if you are okay with that.

Otherwise, hang in there, man.

We're hanging in there, and luckily we're all doing okay, aside from the kids' boredom from quarantining. All prayers, well wishes, thoughts, and good vibes are 100% appreciated!

@Darkfrog, hope you all get well soon!

Thanks, we're steadily improving. Kids have improved to the point where their boredom has outpaced their illness and they are up to their normal mischief again, while annoying, is a good sign I think.

@Darkfrog, hang in there. Y'all will be stronger for it in a couple of weeks.

Thanks! We are lucky to have mild cases (a few vaccinated/boosted friends had pretty rough omicron cases over Christmas, so it's not always less severe). I believe a big part of was being fully vaccinated with boosters, so I am grateful for modern science/medicine.

@Darkfrog That sucks. Sorry to hear it.  Hope your household can kick it in the butt. And that you have enough energy to be back out on the course next Sunday.

Thanks! Luckily CDC guideline says isolation for 5 days, so as long as I am symptom free after that period, I hope to be able to get out and play with my group on Sunday (checked with them as a courtesy and they're all okay with it). My work has more conservative requirement of 14 days, so might even be able to sneak in a few weekday rounds too, which usually I can only do during Summer at twilight.

Djokovic was allowed back in and now he admits he attended a public function when he knew he was infected. This just keeps going and going.

Uh huh. I hear the government can still revoke his visa or something, though.

I found out a couple of hours ago that my eighty-three year old father has COVID.  This is after he told us on Tuesday that the nursing home that my mother is in had nearly 20 staff members AND nearly 20 patients had contracted it as well.  She doesn't have it... yet.

My MIL is in a nursing home and 77 employees have contracted Covid and 3 residents (over time).   It's a matter of time before everyone in the nursing home will test positive.     She is negative but when somebody has a cough they get quarantined for a few days.

I had my first Covid test on Saturday.  I’ve been run down with a decent cold for a few weeks, but it wasn’t until the fevers and chills started that I figured it was time to get tested.  Results came back negative , and a trip to the doctor today yielded some free antibiotics and a nasal spray to hopefully clear this up.

Nobody ever said that smoking cannabis protects humans from contracting Covid-19. Yet that's...

This has been making some headlines recently.  To summarize it, there are acids in cannabis that when heated have attached to the spike protein, in test tubes. It is not generic, store weed and nothing was studied in vivo.

I play Wallyball Wednesday nights during the winter.   Today someone posted that they tested positive today after showing symptoms Friday night.   I'll home quarantine for several days before venturing outside.   This got me wondering though, it would be very difficult to quantify all of the people that would need to be traced from just that one even!

I'm symptom free btw.

Yes, but it takes you through a prettier UI. 😁

Oh, and thanks Erik, your early notice is a good thing, getting us in before the .gov site potentially crashes tomorrow.  Got mine moving through the mail system...

    • First - glad to see these popping up again. Now to the topic at hand - I would rather be option 1.  If I know how far it's going (I mean a yard or two) I can always play to the wider parts of the fairway and/or the green and still do reasonably well.  Now if I could just really hit the "number" that well.
    • Day 2 (10 Mar 25) - Long day of driving to dr appt with son.  Thankfully got in one of my fave putting drills (two ball side by side) - the goal to have both balls come off the putter face equally by having them come off the putter face as close to the same time as possible.  First few rolls - the toe was leading the way as that ball flew off the face.  By the end of the drill both balls were basically equal off the face, rolling to within a couple of inches of each other.  Nice drill of focusing on squaring the face.  BTW - I was using the old Odyssey DF992.
    • Day 161 - 2025-03-10 Got a decent, long session in. Focused mostly on the backswing feels, and moved on toward the end of the four hours (not all hitting balls, I installed a motion sensing light switch in there too, and worked with a student over FaceTime for a bit) on the downswing feel.
    • Day 31: 3/10/25 Backswing drills with the ProSendr. Reinforcing iron play from yesterday.
    • I wrote up a response as a YouTube comment that I won't be posting on YouTube. What an absolute load of garbage. Your arm doesn't "slingshot" or "bounce" - you use the muscles in your arm to move your arm and throw the baseball. In one video you've managed to get roughly five areas of science almost completely backward. At best, your video sets up a straw man as nobody is telling golfers to do anything like what you show when you're demonstrating a "bad tennis player." The golfers you see on your lesson tee must be from a completely different world than almost anyone else on Earth, because most golfers do something more like what you prefer to teach - their arms are too passive for too long, they stay "up" too long, and are carried out toward the ball from the top. From there, they stall their pivot, often early extending while right tilting to TRY to not swing 15° left. You know… we have ways of measuring these things these days, but you're still stuck with a poor understanding of how the golf swing works and are peddling it to some unsuspecting and unfortunate souls. But, I know… you teach "athletes." I hope for your sake that's just code for "dumb" because anyone with even a room temperature IQ understands that there's nothing truly "effortless" about the golf swing.
