Generally I proofread my posts before pushing "send".  I think someone was getting a little tired of hearing about the public schools of Chicago.

I signed up to be on the vaccine waitlist. No idea how long it will be until I get an appointment.

It sounds like the WHO came to the conclusion that the virus came from a bat.

Where did you get that from?

Quote

Based on our analysis, and as confirmed by the global study convened by the World Health Organization (WHO) and Chinese authorities, there is as yet no evidence demonstrating a fully natural origin of this virus.

That’s from the PDF.

We're rescheduled for this Friday, two days from now.  3000 getting their second shot the same day.  We're at 7:30 AM, 150 miles away, and we are taking my 86-year-old MIL, who is 35 miles from the event.

woo hoo!

Since it's been mentioned, an Internet friend volunteered for one of the trials.  She got the placebo, and they did not give her the vaccine when it was approved.  That's not fair!

I would not change a thing, but Wednesday, five days after our second Pfizer shot, I noticed some bumps on the back of my head, in addition to the golfball bump.  I am never sick, but Friday I was diagnosed with Shingles.  My doctor-type-person said that can happen when your immune system is being manipulated.  I see on the Internet, it's happened to others.

Shingles is everything it's advertised to be!!!!!

It's tough.  Good luck.

CBS New reported this morning that China is not giving the WHO all of the data they have on the virus.   It's assumed, according to CBS News, that the virus came from bats and was denied access to a cave where it is assumed to originated.

This morning I got an email notice that I could schedule my first vaccine dose, 8 days after getting myself on the list for my county.  I'm now scheduled to be vaccinated tomorrow afternoon at 4 PM, getting the Pfizer formulation.  So far so good.

Firstly, I know my father had shingles a few years back. It was annoying but he seemed to get past it pretty quickly. So, I hope you too, have a speedy recovery.

Oh, and one quick question: Did you have Chicken Pox as a kid?

I have no idea.

It looks like shingles hangs around awhile, several weeks.  Either it is not as full-blown now (6 days into it) or I'm getting used to it.

    • Day 191 (09 Nov 24) - After band rehearsal and afternoon yard work, broke out the 8i and hard foam balls to work on low pitches.  Main emphasis was on foot (especially the lead) position, hip rotation and ball position.  Spent time between each shot reflecting on the results of the previous swing. Making small adjustments as needed.
    • Seconding the aimpoint thing. I had a tournament a couple of weeks ago. Had a putt from the fringe about 25 feet. I looked at it and I thought it looked flat, then went to do my aimpoint and I was trying to figure out the left right break, but realized I was on quite a downslope. Turned sideways to do it the other way and estimated about a 3% slope downhill. Basically straight. It was on a green with two tiers and I was all on the top tier. It's a hole that's benched into a slope and I think relative to the slope around me it just looked flat. My feet told me otherwise and I hit that putt like it was six inches and got it to tap in distance. If I had only relied on my eyes I'd have been chipping from off the green (literally - greens were very fast and the hole was only 6-8 feet from the tier. That ball would have gone off the green. When I got in the clubhouse afterwards people were talking about how many putts they had on that green. Combine that with my having four-putted 4 holes earlier (another tier was involved in that one except I had to go down it). I was thanking my lucky stars I did the aimpoint check. Use your feet. It might take you a little while to get used to it, but once you do, it's golden.
    • Agree.  Look at it from the side to determine if it's uphill or downhill. Also, look at the hole and determine the highest point of the hole.  That's the direction of uphill, at least near the hole.
