From Trackman's Instagram Stories. In the video, the guy who holed it thinks so, lol.

The Instagram poll result was closer than I thought it would be. Wonder how it will poll here.

I wonder if it could be the case that HIOs are rarer on that launch monitor.

I think it's cool. It could even be a fun story to tell.

But I vote that it doesn't "count".

In my opinion that "counting" holes in one on Launch Monitors opens a can of worms. Do I then get to count the holes in one on EA Sports Golf? What about on Golden Tee?

Nope, holes in one only "count" on an actual golf course during an actual 9 or 18 hole round.

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs.

A mix I am forever tinkering with.

No way.

But I can envision a dystopian future with super advanced simulation software, with robust data integrity, where maybe "yes" would be normal.

I voted "no".   The simulator I'm currently playing just isn't real golf.    I've lost distance with a few higher lofted clubs and gained about 25 yards with my hybrids.    If I did get a hole in one on the sim it would just be a nice shot.

The Instagram poll is much more split.

Technically you can count anything you want. Tell the story any way you want to. But in my eyes it's not a "real" hole in one.

Reminds me of a guy I used to know and play with back when my wife and I used to live on a golf course. We lived on the tee box for a par 5 (hole 11). This guy lived on the tee box for one of the par 3's (hole 4). He would often go out after work and hit a bunch of shots at the par 3. Sure enough during one of these sessions he hit one in. He counts that as his only "hole in one". Personally, I wouldn't count it. But again, in your own mind you can think what ever you want.

Besides, a hole-in-one never counts if you're wearing a wife-beater shirt.

Instagram popularity is a poor measuring stick of pretty much everything.

    • Hello all.  I'm about to be 57 yrs old, started playing when I was 16, and have quit and restarted the game more times than I can count.  I had started playing a weekly round with a friend, and finally made the jump to Senior A shafted Tour Edge clubs.  Instantly gained 10 yds with an easier swing (why didn't I make that jump sooner???).  Glad to be a part of the group. Cheers all,
    • I think I like this hole.  It is a clear "Risk-Reward" choice.  Since most of the shots in your cone cleared the bunkers I would say they are a minor risk and not a big issue.  Playing the aggressive line may give you 70ish yards in from what looks to be playable rough while conservative play is 120ish from fairway.  I know you said 70 vs 120 is minor for you but how does the approach angle in impact your results?  I figure both strategies are playing for Birdie since holing out from either is mostly luck. Looking at your proximity hole I think it says @ 50 feet when hitting from the fairway from 100-150 and 40 feet if hitting 50-100 from the rough.  Neither of those is an easy birdie putt.   I like the approach angle from the rough between the bunkers & the adjacent tees over the angle from @ 120 in the fairway but I really do not like the idea of hitting onto the adjacent tee boxes and that may impact my confidence with making the shot.  Also, too far left may be a worse approach angle then from the fairway short of the bunkers. For me this may come down to how confident do I feel when I reach that tee box.  If I am stroking it well off the tee leading up to the hole I would try for over the bunkers and the better angle in but if I am struggling that day I would likely opt for the fairway to take more bad stuff out of play.
