Louis isn't going:

Tyrell Hatton isn't going either:

The women's standings will be finalized after the KPMG Women's PGA Championship this weekend.

If Rory Sabbatini wins the gold for Slovakia, because he’s the only player left, I will puke.

The Rahm one is really surprising. That's some terrible luck.

Yeah, that one surprised me, too.  Wonder how it happened

Considering how many people he comes into contact with and how often he is flying, it is unfortunate but not a total surprise. You can catch Covid-19 again even with being vaccinated and previously infected. It just means that your infection is mild.

Irons: 0.5 inch short and 2* Flat Mavrik 5 to AW (AW-105, PW-120, 9-135, 8-145) The lofts for these clubs are about 3* to 5* stronger  than standard.

Wedges: Mizuno MP-R series 52* and 56*. (80, 60)

Nickent: 4DX 2 hybrid 17* and 4 hybrid 23* (185 and 170 carry)

3 Wood: Tour Edge XGC 13* (195 carry)

Driver: Callaway FT IZ Driver 9* (210 carry, ~230 total)

Yes, i realize that, however, the players are in such a bubble, i would imagine he would have gotten it away from the Tour, otherwise I'd think we'd hear of more players catching it

Can you imagine someone close to winning the FedEx cup and $15 mil tested positive for Covid. I hope it won't happen.

I’m not sure how I feel about the olympics. I’ve never even really cared about the olympics before golf. I think golf is the perfect sport for the olympics though, given its ever-increasing global appeal and accessibility. However, two issues stand out to me:

1) most players don’t care. It’s hard to care if the do not hold the medals in esteem. I get it—the field isn’t the most competitive, it’s not major, no money, etc.

2) Covid is throwing a wrench into everything. Major players are pulling out, stringent protocols, etc. It’s going to be even harder to get up for this—as fans or professionals.

WSJ piece on Rahm

The end of the piece mentions it could be tests designed to detect viral genes, not live virus particles, so he's not contagious at all.

Basically it's complicated. The piece has the details as to what's involved with reinfected athletes.

Oh boy...

The camera work is awful on the first tee. These guys are trying to zoom in on the ball while its flying all you see is sky and a hazy white dot. When the ball lands they zoom even further and you dont even know where the tee shot ended up.

It always amazes me how someone can have the top 13 of anything done at the highest athletic level.

My goodness, you aren't kidding.

For those who don't see the article for whatever reason:  there's a list of the top 25 fastest times ever recorded in the women's 1,500 meter freestyle swim.  Katie Ledecky owns spots 1-13, and also spots 15, 17, 18, 22, and 25.

The closest thing to that I can think of offhand is in threes.  Tiger Woods owns the top three season-long strokes gained: approach ever recorded (granted, these have only been recorded in, I believe, the Shotlink era), and at one point (up until a few years ago), Kurt Warner threw the most yards ever in a Super Bowl, but was also in second and third place on that list.

How many women have been timed over 1500m in a pool?

Not THAT many. Why wouldn't she dominate the times in this event - given that she is so impressively dominant?

How many people have played golf competitively?

I'll bet 99.9% of people you see on the street couldn't tell you who Oksana Chusovitina is.

As for women's swimming, Shane Gould is the only person, male or female, to hold EVERY world freestyle record from 100m to 1500m  + 200m IM SIMULTANEOUSLY. (1972)

She was a wonderful swimmer. Her accomplishment was similar to Eric Heiden winning the gold in ALL the speed skating events at Lake Placid. Mind boggling. When I visited Sydney a while back, I recall there was a boat named after her, maybe a ferry.

    • Day 76 - Pretty sore today, so I opted for putting over my Stack session. Primary focus was on starting line, as my putting has been pretty poor this year.
    • Been a bit of delay in updates but I needed to come back east as my mom's health has taken a serious turn for the worse. In a 3 day span we learned she had a tumor to she has stage 4 cancer and stopped eating and drinking for the most part. She has had a rough 3 months but certainly didn't think we'd be at the point of setting up hospice for her. My mom was never into any sports really other than following the Red Sox because my dad was a big fan. She always cared about what we were involved in including asking about how golf went.  I have kept up with my 5 minutes of daily practice and will go to the gym here in NH tomorrow morning. Despite the somber nature of this trip my family has commented more than a few times about my weight loss so it's important to me to keep it up. I know my mom always wanted us happy in whatever we did so I'll continue with my fitness journey keeping that in mind.
    • Day 109- Putting drills on a putting green for 20 minutes.
    • Day 252: did a stack session. Did some slow rehearsal swings during breaks.
    • Day 82: 3/18/24 Tried a Stack session but could not certify my warmup. Finished with indoor chips and putting.
