OK, with one hole remaining at the 2022 Masters and up by 5, Scheffler has this major in the trophy room.  He’s hot right now, he’s confident.  How many more does he win this year?  Does he pull off a grand slam in 2022?

No.

I think he is very hot right now, but I don’t think he can pull off the grand slam.  I wouldn’t put it past him to win another major, but not all of them this year.

There’s a ton of talent out there right now. It’s very unlikely, imo, anyone ever does a grand slam.

1 of 6 #1s to win Masters. He does not win all 4 in single season. I would be hard pressed to say he wins a 2nd major this season. Too hard to do.

Tiger Woods is the only golfer to win more than 2 majors in a single season. If we are talking about the 4 majors now.

I would say he does not.

No - but unless someone makes someone gets really hot, he’ll get POY and is the obvious front runner for the FedEx Cup.

But the slam, no…that would be impossible…

Scottie Scheffler is on a heater right now. He’s not going to win all four majors this year though. A second major this year, could happen. But there are too many talented players now…

Lol, rub it in, why don't you? Honestly, with the right odds...... maybe I would. But no, if I had pick a side I would say he won't win 2 majors this year, let alone all 4.

This is probably a more reasonable question that would require more thought. I would bet against it too - nothing to against Scottie's level of play but historic odds against 99% of major winners.

None and no way.

Winning one major is hard enough. Not that I don't think he could win another major this year, but I think the odds are against it considering the depth of competition.

I don't know if we'll ever see another grand slam - I think that would take Tigre-esque dominance and I just don't see that in today's players.

Looking at recent history gives a good indicator about the depth of today's fields. There have only been 3 multiple major winners in the last 13 years, and no one has won more than 2 during that time.

2018 - Koepka

2015 - Spieth

2014 - Rory

I’m sorry but this question is ridiculous. Winning multiple majors in the same year is hard enough, but only one person has ever won four consecutive majors in the modern era and that was over 20 years ago.

Hell, the last time a career grand slam was accomplished was 2008.

Agreed. He's on an insane hot streak that's lasted two months where he's won 3 of 5 events. It doesn't seem out of the question it could last another 6 weeks and he takes the PGA? Obviously if you had to take an even bet on 0 or > 0 majors over the rest of the year, you'd take 0 :-D But still, the odds aren't terrible either IMO.

The only player on a hot streak in the last 10 years who I would think ever has had more than 50% odds of winning more than one major in a year is DJ. At his height he has looked unbeatable at times and I would be tempted to place a $10 bet after his first win.. let's say the Masters.

    • Day 153: putted for a while using the 2 cups drill inside. Working on bead primarily. Contact was really good.
    • Day 8: 12/17/2024 Okay I took my new PPJ swing thought to the range today. I wasn't sure I was quite ready to do so, but I'm glad I did.  When I got it right it was good... really good. When I got it wrong it was a major fail. I hit lots of really ugly ones. But I didn't let that deter me. I stayed committed and focused on the PPJ and I avoided any temptation to go back to what I was doing before just so that I could "look" better at the range. I'm pretty excited about what I saw when I got it right.  I hit the 6 iron mostly (nearly all block work today). I also hit about 6 balls each with the PW, 8I, 5W and Driver. Those had varying degrees of success. I did crack one drive that let me feel and see what the changes will look like once I get fully trained.  Anyway, I'm going to go back to the mirror work for a couple of more days before bringing it back to the range. I do feel like if I can get this right my swing will improve a lot. So I think its worth the effort. I liked the way it looked on GEARs when I get it right, and I like the results I got at the range when I got it right. Now the goal is to work towards getting it right more often.
    • So I think it's that they can't just bend the shaft or hosel to get it to a new lie angle. They adjust that and it changes the weighting, so they have to then adjust all the weights to get it balanced again. I get the impression that it's a bit of an iterative process and they do it all in the US, so they're paying US labor costs to build it and make it work how it's supposed to. Whether you believe in the tech or not, I think that's a true statement.
    • Ah, the old EE in the backswing move. Chest going back and staying down doesn't help.
