I don't know if I could play without a glove... There's something to be said for ripping that Velcro apart, taking your glove off, and sliding it in your pocket as you walk 150 yds to attempt a birdie putt.

I used to wear a glove 100% of the time but now that I'm in Houston I only wear rain gloves when it's absolutely too humid. I sweat profusely down here and will Tommy Two glove it with my rain gloves but there was a big problem...... My hands were lily white!!!! So no gloves for me now as I use liquid rosin on my hands and and go gloveless. Works great and is way cheaper than buying a $20 glove every 4-6 rounds. I play every day of the week and it was a huge deal for me. I even have to play hatless every 3-4 round so I don't have a Stewart Cink head. The things one will do to play this game.........

How the hell are people going through a glove in 4 rounds?? My glove will last me at least three times longer.

I use a glove. It helps me get a proper grip with my left hand, especially since I switched to the BIONIC StableGrip last year.

No gloves. One more expense/hassle to eliminate. Being a lefty large cadet size has its disadvantages, so this fixes that issue. The only thing is that I am getting callouses in the fingers.

The feel is also better without gloves. If I need to play somewhere humid, I would probably use a glove.

Calluses are cool :-) I've always had rough hands, that's probably why it doesn't bother me to not wear a glove.

In any given round, I'll have two gloves out of my bag (I typically keep 3-4 in the bag at any time). No, not new each time -- they'll last me a year or so each, at least, even when I'm playing regularly. For almost all of my full swing shots, I'll use a glove. I'll put it on when I walk to the tee or when I get to the ball (or, if I'm waiting, when it looks like the group ahead is about to exit so I'll be able to hit). I take it off shortly after my shot -- as soon as I can do so without the velcro affecting anyone. If I'm walking, I put it somewhere on my push cart where it can air out (I don't have a velcro attachment on my bag). If I'm riding, I try to attach it to the handle so it can air out. I will almost never use a glove for a short game shot, except sand. I've never used a glove when putting. I acknowledge that Jack did. My issue is my hands sweat something fierce. I have to remove my glove regularly at the range. I also sometimes will go no glove at the range or for a full shot on the course. I don't see a big difference in the two types, and maybe I'll use up my supply of gloves (still have 3-4 unused in my reserve drawer, so it may take a few years before I'm out) and then stop.

Yep.  I love the feel of my corded grips.  I had previously only worn a glove when using the driver, but this season, the glove hasn't come off the bag since the secound round.  I am a fabricator/welder, so my hands are already well seasoned before the golf season starts up.

I prefer the no glove approach, but since I, play and practice  a lot  in the desert southwest, skin damage from the sun is a real problem. So because of the sun, I go to the extreme, and wear two gloves. I even wear white, long sleeve shirts sometimes. Now if I am up north some where, or some where where  the sun is not an issue, I will play with out gloves.

No gloves. I honestly don't know if I've played two full rounds with a glove when I bought one glove as a kid.

They were expensive, and a hassle, and I didn't need them.

Still don't.

My glove addiction is so powerful that I can't hardly take a swing on the simulator at Golfsmith without a glove. I have very sweaty hands, and can't get past the feeling that the club is going to go flying.

I used a glove for a long time until i came across a thread in here about people not wearing one. I think someone wrote that the Pure grips worked very well without a glove, so I stopped wearing one when I switched grips. Didn't notice anything and have found no reason to put it back in since. I would wager that golf wouldn't be any different if nobody had gloves. For some there are of course medical (or something) reasons for wearing one.

When did golfers start wearing a glove btw? I don't see them on older photos of golfers.

Hi all Well this is my first post and I am glad to say I have really enjoyed the varying replies. Thank you all. The sore hands and sweaty palms details I understand and I don't suffer 1 because the temp in UK is low and 2 I don't use ranges so constant swinging in my mind would warrant a glove to maintain a grip. But I seriously doubt me or anyone else would have sweaty palms in every game except for hot days. I don't like to compare other sports but I always found it a bit odd we tend to use one glove and other sports its two and for a purpose goalkeeper batsmen etc. I have played tennis and thought gloves would be handy as you re constantly drying hands and handles. I shall continue gloveless. Happy swinging

I find myself taking it off after tee shots later in the round when it's getting sweaty. I'll normally take it off on each hole after my approach but I've gone 4 or 5 holes wearing it the whole time because I just forget to take it off. I wear a glove on the range always.

I have to wear one because my hands get too sweaty.  But I don't wear one for short game.  I have two gloves that I rotate through and they will last me the entire summer.
