Maybe driver is technically a wood, but it's really not, wood is short for fairway wood, drivers are not designed to hit off the fairway.

Woods are called woods because they used to be the clubs made out of wood, not a nickname for fairway woods. This is why a lot of people call them fairway metals or metalwoods now. The driver used to be the 1W, so yes it's a wood.

Of course driver counts as a wood.  If the OP didn't want that counted he should have made a multiple choice poll with the different woods listed by name.

For me it's two,  913 D2 driver and 18° TM AeroBurner 5W.

Maybe driver is technically a wood, but it's really not, wood is short for fairway wood, drivers are not designed to hit off the fairway.

I only carry a 3W, I think woods have become a dying club for good reasons, one of which is how hard they are to control shot shapes compared to a nice GI long iron or even a hybrid.

Not at all true.  Driver is a 1 wood - always has been since numbers were attached to clubs.  Just like a spoon is a 3 wood.

Actually, I'm old enough to remember a time when  drivers were made of wood, and many had the number "1" on the soleplate, so I still count my driver as a wood.  I still have one of these in my basement:

Every blue moon I find a reason to hit my current Titleist 910 D2 off the fairway, so it counts as a fairway wood too.  Even so, as I read the original post, I do agree that the OP seems to be asking about non-driver woods.

Since we are counting the driver I voted 1.  I recently ditched my 3 wood for a 19 adams hybrid, and while I probably do sacrifice a bit on distance I more than make up with it in accuracy.  What's the point in having a club I can hit 225 if I can only do that once every twenty-five or so swings.

I ad and subtract clubs from my bag depending on what clubs I'm hitting better at the moment. In this mornings round I didn't have a driver. I did however have a Adams 3 fairway wood, a Cobra 5 fairway wood, and a Dunlop 5 wood. Once in a while I ad my Wild Thing 9 wood to my bag. But it all depends on whether or not my irons are working for me.

I consider a wood any club shaped like an old time wood. This includes hybrid clubs. I carry a Driver, a 3H and a 4H. No 3 wood these days.

3 for me. Driver, 3W, and 5W. Off-topic, but god I hate hybrids. I'd rather hit a seven and nine wood than a hybrid.

Like most folks I carry driver and 3 wood.  Way back when I first started playing I used to also carry a 7 wood, but that's been replaced with a 3 hybrid.

I used to love my hybrids, but lately they are quite useless, even a detriment to my game.  During my fitting on Monday I tried several and couldn't a single one.  Even the fitter couldn't figure out why I was so terrible with every one I tried, yet hit most of the irons quite well.  Right now my 5W has to do the job of 4 clubs (3W, 5W and two hybrids), until the new irons arrive.

I've got my driver and 3-wood, along with a 3 hybrid, so I voted for 2. I like my 3-wood in the wind, since I actually have a cut down driver shaft in it that makes it fly pretty low and roll out a lot on the hard Colorado fairways.
