The recycling center overlooks the 9th green.  As soon as the bin is full I'll be heading over.  Which reminds me...I'd better see about emptying a few more of these beer bottles.

Every year I organize a group of about 20 guys and we all go down to Pinehurst.  It is amazing and a lot cheaper than you may think.  The accommodations are great and the golf is amazing at not only Pinehurst resorts but the surrounding golf courses as well (probably 30 other courses to play).  I would highly recommend Pinehurst if you have not been there yet!

I would ad the Kohler resort, Whistling Straits as a must do.  Not cheap but everyone that went on our trip said they want to go back.

These 4 are all on my bucket list. Enjoy!  I’m hoping to pick one for a trip for my 40th bday next summer. I’m not sure if I’ll make a trip happen to play anywhere special this year but I’ll drive over to St. Louis to watch the pga champ which falls on my bday.

I would also recommend Bethpage, there are 5 courses I believe, all named by color.  Black is obviously the one to play and the hardest to get on.  I've played that once, and it took us two tries to get on.  If you are going to try to play that course and you are NOT a residence of New York, there are a few hoops you will have to jump through.  If you are military as well, they do a very generous military discount.

The rest of the courses vary in difficulty and are not as hard to get a tee time for.  I would put this on a bucket list if it's not already.

Going back to Pinehurst in June. Playing Talamore courses again this year - Mid-south, Talamore, Mid-Pines and Pine Needles. Have played the PH courses except number 2.

Played Blue last year. Absolute treat. Walking is the best way to go for sure. Will try and go back to play the other 2 towards the end of the year.

In mid March me and some buddies are going to a course called Tanglewood in Kentucky for the weekend. We talked to them at a Golf Expo we went to, and they got us a great deal. 3 rounds of golf with carts, and 2 nights in a condo on the course for about $150 per person.

The course is about an hour west of Lexington and about an hour southeast of Lousiville.

After going vacation-free in 2017, my lot and I are headed back to the Outer Banks in May. Along with a bunch of loafing on the beach, we figure to play three rounds at courses to be determined.

Last time we went, Currituck Club busted my teeth out. I feel like I owe it something.

Just returned from a trip to St. George, UT and Laughlin, NV. Next trip will in June to Charleston, WV. Hopefully I will travel within the year to Senegal, Ghana, South Africa Botswana, Swaziland and Lesotho. A trip to Myrtle Beach in November and several trips of 2 or 3 days to Northern Michigan. That is what semi-retirement is all about.

    • Day 51 (29 Apr 26) - Worked with a few of the golf team kids plus my grandson (he’s too young for the team as it’s middle-high school age and he’ll be 10 Sat).  He put on a small hitting clinic (hitting off the same tees as the rest of the boys) - one of the older kids called him a “coach”.  Worked in a few shots for myself - had the light bag: driver, 7w, 4 - 6 - 8 - Pw - Sw (DCI 962’s except the Sw a 981) and Zebra putter….got in some great tee shots, a couple of recovery and an awesome up and down for bogie: 55 yds out, hitting 4th shot due to 2nd getting tangled in limbs - see the window I need to hit for a tight spinner with the Sw - nail it to a postage letter distance from the cup for a tap in bogie….my kind of practice.
    • Day 21, April 29.  Before going to work this morning, I worked in my indoor practice room for 20 minutes.   This was entirely 6-iron shots with the usual step.  Video yesterday showed me that I'm still straightening my trail leg too much (leading to the backswing length issue I've been working to fix), so I focused on not doing that in my rehearsal swings.
    • Exactly correct.   I was absolutely certain about the penalty (none here), but the bit about where they play from can be really confusing the first time you read it.  In my big paper rule book, i used colored highlighters to make it clear.  Good thing I did, at the Cascades there's little to no cell service, so using the rules app on the phone wasnn't possible.
    • Taking a crack it, but looks pretty clear. 11.1  Ball in Motion Accidentally Hits Person or Outside Influence. a. No Penalty to Any Player If a player’s ball in motion accidentally hits any person (including the player) or outside influence: There is no penalty to any player. This is true even if the ball hits the player, the opponent or any other player or any of their caddies or equipment. Reading further down it looks like they have to play the ball as it lies. No replay from the previous spot.
    • I had an interesting one yesterday, a local qualifier for the US Senior Open, at the Cascades Course at the Homestead.  Well, first things first, the VSGA arrnged for the officials to play the Cascades on Monday at the players' practice round rate.  Its lots of fun, rather old-style (built in the 1920s).  anyway, a player missed a short putt, and (apparently embarrassed) took a step to be ready to tap the ball back in.  The ball lipped out, and hit the player's foot.  I was nearby, and they waved me over, and asked "What do we do now?"  I was pretty sure of the ruling, but asked them to wait for a few seconds while i double-checked.  I did have it correct, even though its one of the more confusing rules in the book right now.  I'll leave the correct answer out for now, in case anyone wants to guess, or research it, and post their ruling.
