Reminds me of the shoes featured in Back to the Future.  If you gave me the money Fowler is getting for putting those on his feet I would wear leopard print loafers... 24/7.

Lol ... That's what @LagShaft and I were discussing earlier.  For me, I think that was most popular in about 8th/9th/10th grade or thereabouts, which is 1987-1988 or so.

I didn't wear them with high tops though - it was Vans slip ons for me.

The shoes weren't something Puma specifically asked Fowler to wear, he asked for them. I'm guessing Puma paid him to endorse its clothing in general, as long as its designed by Puma and has its logo on it, and there was probably already an apparel line in existence, they weren't thinking of these high tops, but whatever sells.

Basically, Fowler pulled a Poulter.

He can pull off the look, but whether 20 years from now, photos of him will look silly like those crazy sweaters or polo patterns in the 70s, which to me, look ultra tacky, that has yet to be seen.

Cardigans aren't terribly popular these days either, except maybe with Webb Simpson.  Or high-waters.  Or cigarettes.  (Or dirty-ass shoes with those tassle flappy thingies)

Good look for Ricky Fowler.  Somehow, I think the shoes have something to do with the miles and miles tour pros walk each season.  Anything to help the feet, ankles and knees should be considered.

Part of why I ride 95% of the time is the wear and tear on my feet and ankles.  Somehow, golf shoe manufacturers may spend more time on 'grip' than creating shoes that literally 'walk themselves' like a good running shoe.

I would say that cardigans are quite popular amongst the younger crowds.

Didn't you know? - Ideas about attire that assists performance in an actual real and functional way is silly. 

It's all about random ideas of fashion, or tradition, ladies.

 

Some uptight clubs have likely already banned shoes that provide ankle support and comfort (as is the right of private clubs).
