Exactly 20. All Bridgestone E6 balls. 4 yellow, and 16 white. At the end of each round I take out any found balls, clean any balls I have used, and replace any lost ones. I have know idea why I do this, I just do

In my bag (Motocaddy Light)

Taylormade Burner driver, Taylormade 4 wood, 3 x Ping Karsten Hybrids, 6-SW Ping Karsten irons with reg flex graphite shafts. Odyssey putter, 20 Bridgestone e6 balls, 2 water balls for the 5th hole, loads of tees, 2 golf gloves, a couple of hand warmers, cleaning towel, 5 ball markers, 2 pitch mark repairers, some aspirin, 3 hats, set of waterproofs, an umbrella, a pair of gaiters, 2 pairs of glasses. Christ, it's amazing I can pick the bloody thing up !!

Slightly off topic - generally speaking, do cart girls on the course carry sleeves of balls to buy?  I've never known them to, or asked them.

I've never seen any that do, but I think that would make sense for them to do so ... at least 1-2 types.  Maybe just a low demand item and the cart space is better spent elsewhere?

At my club a caddy recently told me about a player who had 150 balls in his bag. And the caddy had to carry the bag the whole round.

(I'm in Mexico and thank God we still have caddies. I like to walk and the caddy is always by my side like the pro's on tour.)

Today I started with 10, lost one, found one, break even.  (We'll not exactly, I lost a ProV1x and found some kind of Pinnacle)

It depends on the golf bag I'm using.  I've got a nylon walker that spills the clubs out if you don't counterbalance the club heads with water, precious metals, gem stones, or a couple dozen derelict golf balls.  My cart bag = minimum 3, maximum 9.  Time was that I used only free-range golf balls that I had captured in the wild.  Those days are over and, except for the odd trade-up, I leave the course and lost balls as I find them.

In der bag:
Cleveland Hi-Bore driver, Maltby 5 wood, Maltby hybrid, Maltby irons and wedges (23 to 50) Vokey 59/07, Cleveland Niblick (LH-42), and a Maltby mallet putter.                                                                                                                                                 "When the going gets tough...it's tough to get going."

When I carried I usually had 3-4 balls. Now I take a cart and usually have close to 10 including the ball in my pocket. The course I play these days has lots of places to lose a ball so although I rarely lose more than one or two I like to have extra just in case. When I was carrying I was a pretty good player and rarely lost a ball, but today I kind of suck a lot and therefore need a few extra.

I've never seen it either, but that idea does make a little sense.  She could just have a box of the used balls that are on the counter in the pro shop for $1 or whatever.

Anywhere from 9 to a dozen in the ball pouch and usually have 2 sleeves in outer pouch...

Anywhere from 5-15. Depending on whether I remember to check before I head out to the course.

Wow you guys carry a lot of weight there. I walk and carry my bag so there is a weight issue as well.

I carry 3, 1 in play and 2 in the bag. Carrying lots of balls is like carrying a ball retriever, negative implications. With fewer balls there is pressure to make them count, good for maintaining your mental toughness.

And when you are down to your last ball, you have to play decently so you don't run out. Makes you focus better. Only have run out once, very embarrassing to ask your buddy for a ball since you lost all of yours. Ever had a buddy ask you for a ball to hit right after he lost one of his own? Humuna humuna humana sorry um no I don't have one for you :)

I carry somewhere around 15-20, usually 6 new balls for tournaments, the rest assorted used (though I try to stick to Titleist, Bridgestone or Callaway). On the question of whether cart girls sell balls: my wife and I play a lot in Thailand where, because of the heat and humidity, there is usually a kiosk with food and drink and seating every 4-5 holes. These kiosks normally have used balls for sale, strictly sorted by manufacturer/model and usually in packs of 6 or 8. The price is around 75 cents per ball. This year, we went to the Dominican Republic for the first time. There, the greenkeepers sell used balls, but very much "under the table", as they get fired if they are caught.

I play a super tight golf course.  I buy 6 crap balls for a round there and play whatever I find.  A few times I've pulled out a pro v1 and watched it sail 40 yards into the woods.

Every round starts with exactly one dozen balls, identically marked. Any that are lost get replaced before the next round.

When they get too scuffed or worn, they move to the shag bag.

About eighty. A bunch of these are old shag balls that I use on the range if I don't have time or feel like hitting a full bucket.

Varies for me as well.  Right now 3 new Velocitys  that I just won.  About 12 that I would mark with my signature blue dot and declare them playable. ( I will play all the major brands at some point in time this season and every season. When the bag is noticeably heavier since I use a push cart, I dump my cargo and it will be in the 12 ball range. I would say that I use Titleists but only to the point that if I were to buy that is what I would purchase.  I have bags of balls and dump them into the junior golf bin. every season.

    • Thanks but honestly… I don't know any other way. I don't mind being wrong so long as I know where to go from there. I don't like being wrong — I'd love to get things right (which is different than "being right"). I recommend grabbing a furniture slider or a paper plate or something, and doing something like this: First, make a swing where you let your trail foot swing out as you turn, then twist that foot back in. From DL and FO, it'll look like this: Then, during a regular backswing, try to twist your foot in slightly (demonstrated in the left image): You'll notice a crease along the trail side of your hip, your pelvis will "fold" into that thigh (internal rotation of the hip joint), and your "bits" will be squished a little between your pelvis and your thigh. Ben Hogan said once: "At the top of the back swing the groin muscle on the inside of your rt [sic] leg near your right nut will tighten," Hogan wrote. "This subtle feeling of tightness there tells you that you have made the correct move back from the ball." I don't know about that, but you will probably feel something down around that area.
    • Yep. I think it will start to feel even more athletic when we start on the downswing stuff later.  I know, it's just I want to be younger so I have more time to enjoy the changes. 🙂
    • I need to drop a couple of stone. 🙂 😛    Yep. Yeah, but in the end, it feels more athletic, like you're actually using your legs, yeah? As you know… we use the best available info we have. Like others, I was fooled a little by 2D images for awhile (moving or still). Unlike others, I've learned and grown and moved on since then, while they're still looking at their images (often from lousy camera angles).
