During the warmer months I see my share of snakes, while out hiking . In fact I saw a roadrunner with snake dangling out of it's mouth just the other day.

Seen quite a few on some local golf courses, usually in the early morning hours.

They go their way, and I go mine.

A whole bunch of Tour Edge golf stuff......

MCAS Miramar used to have a lot of rattlers crossing the fairway on #17. Once near the number 1 tee, this guy was taunting what he thought was a "garter snake". The "garter snake" made strikes at his grip that the guy was prodding it with. I explained to him that "garters" normally would not do that, but baby rattlers, will and they do not yet have identifying rattles, yet are qutie capable of inflicting venomous bites.

Snakes don't bother me. I will give really poisonous ones a great deal of respect, but non-venomous snakes are an opportunity for a chase!

I don't think any animal, including snakes, bother me.  I grew up watching all the animal shows on TV, so maybe I became less sensitive to animals in general.

I see a lot of garter snakes, an occasional rattle when I go east. But, they don't bother me.  We also have bobcats.  They should have the PGA Tour guys pose with one of those...

What are these "snakes" you speak of?:-P

New Zealand has none? I remember hearing that Australia has tons. Bizarre that New Zealand wouldn't have any.

New Zealand is one of several large islands around the globe where there have never been native snake populations. The others are Antarctica, Iceland, Ireland and Newfoundland. Snakes are more common than lizards around the world, and yet New Zealand is home to several species of lizard and not a single snake.

Feel bad for the snake?   What about St. Patrick?   He had to create a drinking day because of all of the snakes he drove out of Ireland.   His drunk fest is celebrated world wide@!#

I lived on Vancouver Island (Victoria) in Canada for 3 years, no snakes on the island.

Hawaii was devoid of snakes until recently.
