Wow, so many to choose from

Red wine, and I think Italian reds are accessible, reasonably priced, and good with food

Beer, or more properly, Ale. Β I like pale ales and IPAs, but I think the hop thing is beginning to be overdone. Β My home club keeps Sierra Nevada PaleΒ Ale on tap, and that's just fine with me.

In hot weather, Tanqueray gin, Schweppes Tonic, and lime.

Single malt whisky, my favorite is Caol Ila, a gently peaty Islay malt. Β Nothing wrong with good bourbon whiskey either.

I'm not a ginΒ guy but I concur.Β

Go to is usually a single malt Scotch. I like variety so can be peaty and salty or smooth. Glenlivet 12 is an excellent average Scotch (if that makes sense) for the price. I always have a bottle of 18 year old something or otherΒ though (currently Glenmorangie) andΒ usually a bottle of Islay (currently Laphroaig)Β for when want something different.Β If mixing then J&B Scotch and club soda. That was my go to drink forever, it's nicelyΒ light and crisp. Usually like a porter or stout during the cooler months. I agree that the hop thing is going overboard. During summer it's hard to beat a margarita on the rocks when playing in the pool.Β

Lagavulin 16 year single malt on the rocks (sorry purists).Β  For an occasional bourbon Manhattan I prefer Four Roses Single Barrel.

Pikesville Straight Rye Whiskey neat, if I canΒ find it.. 110 proof. Excellent.

Famous Grouse Scotch Whisky is a good affordable blend.Β

Most craft-brewed IPA's.Β

Not above having a Bud Light or a Coors Light on a hot day

I *do not* drink wine or champagneΒ

I had a Scottish friend, and the Famous Grouse (The low flyer as he and his mates often referred to it) was his every-day favorite whisky, for good reason.

I came to Caol Ila through Talisker. Β One of the great things about visiting Scotland is the vast knowledge of many of the barmen there. Β Looking for a gently peated single malt, I had tried Talisker one evening, and liked it. Β OnΒ a subsequent evening, I mentioned that to a different barman, and asked if there was something with just a bit less peat, he recommended Caol Ila, and now I'm hooked. Β Another slightly peaty malt that I like as well is Ardbeg , which I was told was very big with the German visitors. Β

Michelob Ultra since going low carb. Norcal margarita.

And for the eggnog for the season. You have to try Evan Williams Eggnog. Just the right amount of sweet and alcohol.
