Tiger's "Done"ness

91 members have voted

  1. 1. How "done" is Tiger Woods? (Yes, you're predicting something, and we can all be wrong.)

    • He'll never make a cut in a regular PGA Tour event/major again. Or worse.
      15
    • He'll play a few rounds, make a few cuts, but never win again.
      57
    • He'll recover well enough to win a few events here and there in the next decade.
      16
    • He'll return to something stronger than the choice above.

Not to bury the headline, I voted A thanks to events transpired since the Hero.

It's not surprising how many people are choosing B.  It's a very tempting choice -- it doesn't look like he's recovering from his injuries so well but he obviously still has an interest in playing and has teed it up a couple times.

However I think B is the least likely option.  Ask yourself, what would keep him from doing something other than option A?  Either his health doesn't allow him to swing freely enough to complete a tournament or he has to wait so long between tourneys to recover that the rust will keep him out of contention.  The only way to even achieve B would be to overcome that and remain healthy enough to play.  But if he DOES become healthy enough to play, and play many events per year, what would stop him from doing C or better?  He is Tiger freaking Woods.  What, do you still think he has the chipping yips?  No, if he becomes healthy enough to play 4 majors per year and several events in between then he will be in contention many times.

But again, I don't think that will happen.

I couldn't decide between B and C so I went with B. I went with it because I'm guessing he will "retire" of he continues to struggle as he does, rather than keep trying to play for no apparent reason.

Plus, given his age, rapidly declining body, and the talent level on tour now, even if he is 100% healthy, winning might still be unlikely.

I agree and was going to post the same thing. I think option 2 is the least likely of all the choices. Either his body is going to cooperate, or it won't. But if he does find a way to regain his physical strength and his back holds up, I think he's got enough game and enough competitive fire to compete and win a few more times on tour.

GOAT......but the option I choose rhymes with "done"

I'm not selecting anything. Let's just wait and see. Patience.

So you think he's so broken he can't get healthy again? his body will never be able to play golf?

Because that's the only thing stopping him, I believe he's still talented enough to compete at the highest level, he's just too injured.

I'm not sure I'm ready to believe that he can't heal, I think he simply rushed getting back into the game, maybe a year off wasn't enough, he may need another one to rest more, it was a serious injury.

My answer is between option #2 and #3, but I erred on #2.

I think he could make a couple top 10's. But my bet is he won't win anymore.

Which is a shame, cause I love the guy.

I think that B is an okay choice.

Yeah, I get that "he's Tiger Woods" but the Tiger Woods of old was able to practice and train in a way Hank Haney described well in his show… a few hundred balls per day, hundreds of putts, 18-36 holes of golf, etc.

So I think #2 is legit because he can occasionally practice well enough to make some cuts now and then, but not quite enough that his game is ever really sharp enough to win.

Sadly, I went with Option #1. If I had to guess, I'd predict one more "false start" (withdraw with injury) and then he just hangs it up.

Blech. I hate even thinking about it.

#2, he will make a few cuts in the next 5 years. May be tad bit on the wishful side but don't think that is huge stretch.

I have this feeling someone will convince him:

If you go back out and make a few cuts, maybe even win a couple more times... what's the point? Not only will it take a toll on you, your pride, your mental health. But why tarnish the memory of your dominance? Do you really want a newer generation of golf fans (who never saw you in your prime, but have heard of it) to remember a hobbling Tiger, who spends a few years as a run-of-the-mill pro?

Consider taking your boundless energy into something totally new and worthwhile. Make a new history for Tiger Woods.

I went with option #2, but only cause I'm trying to be optimistic. Your senario is, sadly, very possible.

I choose #2....but with what we have seen from him lately #1 wouldn't be to far from the truth either and wouldn't surprise me at all. JMHO

Sure, it's possible. And I suppose that even if he makes one cut from here on out, the strict interpretation of the poll means that option 1 is no longer viable.

But since I didn't actually vote in the thread earlier, I'm going to plant my flag on option 3. Tiger Woods will win again on the PGA tour!

Maybe he will win......but I doubt it. Not until the masters tour if he goes that route. The body breaking down and his marital meltdown infidelity drama no doubt took something out of him. Just my 2cents
