So knowing that it will probably be windy Thurs and maybe Fri, which players will fair better in it?  Also, does it hurt some of the favorites heading into the tournament?

Expand

This weather changes my picks somewhat:

DJ - nothing bothers him

Jordan - mentally strong, good wind player

Phil - good wind player (now), knows course better n anyone and he's 46

Rickey - loves the elements, embraces the challenge

Zach J - also embraces the  challenge, only way he can win is in inclement weather

If weather was nice, I'd pull Rickey and Zach in lieu of Rory and JDay.

This... is a boring uninspired menu, sorry, just my humble opinion.

Guessing those bolded X's are don't go there.

I've heard it said that if anyone designed a course today with greens like those at Augusta, he'd be ridiculed and lynched.  Those severe greens are revered, due to their history, but they'd be tough to play on a regular basis.  Of course, if I was forced to play Augusta on a regular basis, I'd try to tolerate them.

I'd assume, for member play, the greens would be a lot slower and the pins in easier spots. Or at least they would be most of the time.

If there is a postponement of play for some time on Thursday, it could heavily favor the early Thursday guys because if they get to finish most of their round on Saturday, the winds are supposed to die down to 5-10mph.

What's more likely?  That Sean O'Hair lies about his age or the Stewards of Masters have made a mistake?

I think you'll find that Mr. O'Hair is indeed 54 years of age.

Maybe they are worried that O'Hair is going to win, but this way he only get to play 6 more years as a past champion

He's a Yorkshireman; they're not terribly...well...imaginative.

Mind you, I think some of the golfers from the southern United States might be a bit bemused when they see "gravy" on the menu and have their first encounter with Bisto.

In all fairness, I find pretty much all of the menus boring, don't mean to single out Willett. Had Yorkshire pudding last year in Kent, it was very good.

Jason Day's mother won't need chemo, much weight off shoulders, maybe it'll free him up for a win.

I normally don't root for anyone, but this year, want to see a first time winner that's not an unknown quantity like Willett. Day, McIlroy, Rose, DJ, Matsuyama, Stenson, Rahm, etc...

    • Yep, I almost flagged an 8 iron just exaggerating my right elbow backswing stuff 🤣 I am sure I might get some stalling. Maybe the sequence is a bit out of sync. I also tend to flip more when I overswing. Doing really good. It’s rejuvenated me a bit. I’m going to start weight lifting soon.
    • However 2.1b says re GP scores 2.1b ii) General Play. When an organized competition is not being contested, a score is not generally acceptable for handicap purposes if the player: * Breaches the Rules of Golf, and the correct penalty is not applied under the Rules of Golf, or * Deliberately ignores a Rule of Golf. Where a player follows the provisions set down in a Model Local Rule, even when the Committee in charge of the course has not adopted that Model Local Rule, the score may still be acceptable for handicap purposes.
    • CONGU – who control handicapping in Great Britain and Ireland – affirmed the Local Rule could not be used in any qualifying competitions or general play scores. That’s any event where handicap marks could be affected.
    • I think you are spot on.  Seems like every survey I read about playing golf in the US says that the biggest issue here is pace of play. Anything that can help pace of play feels like a good idea.
    • Just checking.  Are you healthy again? I seem to remember you going through some injury issues. Are all of those behind you now? Or are you still doing PT?
