The Sixth and Final Selection for the 2017 Newport Cup, West Coast (Red) Team is…

Red Team

I'm lucky enough to get Kyle on the team before he moves to FL. He played in the '15 Newport Cup and I remember him hitting a lot of great shots. Particularly one off a wall :-OHe's a longtime member of the site and his game always seems to be trending in the right direction. I also think he plays almost every day so a couple 36 hole days won't be a big deal for him ;-)

Thanks to everyone that submitted their videos and showed interest. I really appreciate it. It's great to have the '17 team be a good mix of new guys with some returning players. Look forward to having everyone compete and have a lot of fun in Pinehurst.

Thank you all very much. It's a Monday morning in Arkansas and I'm golfing. (Shocker I know) looking forward to being on the Red team and contributing one last time. Great guys on both sides and looking forward to meeting everyone.

No No, I have "Red Blood" in my veins and I live on the West side of the Mississippi which make me a West Coast fan.

I'll be rooting for my guys believe me, but I also support any player to play as well as they can. Just ask @DaveP043 how much competiveness I have in my Blood...  ;-)

      This is an awesome breakdown. most of the bigger tournaments usually have one wave with the advantage, Thank you for the breakdown. If it is soft then it will be a lower final score

      Over the past 15 years, the winning score has ranged from -10 to -20. Mostly around -13.  Here is Thursday and Friday weather. Saturday and Sunday weather. I think the course will play soft. Plenty of sky cover, lots of rain on Thursday. Fairways and greens will probably stay soft throughout the week.  In terms of tee times, I think Thursday morning and Friday afternoon have the biggest advantage.       Things that I am or have worked on... 1.    Trail Elbow - Check 2.    Hip Turn - Check 3.    Rolled Inside - Check 4.    Wide Takeaway - Check 5.    Sway and Tilt - Nope, but I did a hip turn and tilt 🤣 I am giving myself 4.5/5 for my long backswing.  Great post!

      We have a very difficult but mostly showy course this week. Lets see what they got. This course offers so many chances to get into trouble it is really a mental minefield. I am excited to see who can handle it and who cant. Last year we got a foreshadowing of JJ and Rory, I am excited for this year Who do people have winning? what will the winning score be? I am thinking 12 or 13 under
