I am crunching some numbers and I am considering some alternatives for practicing my swing.  I figure who better to ask than folks in here.

Please if you will, take the poll. Names are private.

Thanks.

1) I practice with foam balls into a net in my back yard, or 2) I practice at the Tecolote driving range where I get free range balls with $30/month players club membership, or 3) I play mostly at Tecolote before 8 am on weekdays for $5 with $30/month players club membership, or 4) I play a round somewhere else.  I do one of those pretty much every day.  I think playing golf is a good substitute/compliment for ones practice and should be included as part of my overall golf practice.

I consider the range balls free as I would still be in the Players Club for only the discounted green fees, so I answered "Less than $20".  I answered question #2 "At an outdoor practice range" but I also practice at home into a net (the poll didn't let me choose both)

There is a Players Club at The Vineyard, are you close to that course?  It's $40/mo. there but it is a much nicer facility: https://www.golfzing.com/pcvineyard

I probably average close to 3 practice sessions per week, and I do most of them at a driving range near my office on my lunch break.  They don't offer any practice plans (unless you want to get a full-on course membership) so I pay $6 for a small bag each visit.

When I used to live down by you, I practiced here a lot: http://carlsbadgolfcenter.com/

I have probably commented much too much on this owing to my constant tinkering with home made practice range(s).

Depending on what you call practice, I am hitting balls on an average of 4-6 hours daily, but not all at once. I might read something somewhere, jump out the back door and see just what it's all about. Maybe 5 minutes up to an hour or so at various times throughout the day/week.  Is is doing me much good? Hard to say, I don't actually get onto a course more than twice a month. I will say, its not just swatting balls, I try to practice with purpose. Its just that defining what that purpose is, is difficult to surmise.

Last season I was at the club chipping and putting about 3 times per week.   I was at the driving range about twice per week and played at least 4 times per week.    I have bought a mat and net for my garage but my golf membership includes unlimited range access.   I'll probably continue this pattern once the weather breaks.

Sunday after Church, Tuesdays and Thursdays at 3:15 PM at Leonard's Golf Links, West Fort Worth.I probably need to become a "member" given the amount I spend. Anyway, this focused practice (with periodic lessons) has improved my ball-striking consistency. Confident I will be in the 80's this year! -Marv

My goal is to practice (hitting real balls) once per week, although my work schedule is tough these days so I haven't been able to do that consistently.  I also try to practice for at least 15 minutes daily at home, working on slow-motion rehearsals for my full swing and my putting tempo.

A medium bucket of balls at my range is $11, but I get a discount for buying a "charge card".

Currently, I try to get out to the range once a week, and usually hit a medium to large bucket.  I have tag at a local range which I loaded bulk buckets on, which works out to $4 a bucket.

When I was playing at my best a couple years ago, I was hitting the range twice a week, and playing at least 27 holes a week.  Last year, I probably only hit the range a half dozen times (barring warm up before a round), and it showed.

I have a golf academy I belong to. I usually have the entire facility to myself. Driving range, chipping/putting area with bunkers and a fairway bunker to practice with. My work schedule varies but on average I practice 3-4 times a week about 4-6 hours per session. There's also a fairway about 150 yds where I can practice shots from 150yds in.

Players club is a great deal. I recently "dropped out" because of all the rainy weekends (the only time I have) but I might jump back in.

I use old Taylor Made clubs from eBay and golf shops.

I don't practice.

Although I'm a member at a nice club with 2 separate and very comprehensive practice facilities, it's unusual for me to ever just go to practice.  I'd rather play.

I also admit that my game would likely improve if I did though...

Once work gets out of the busy season, I usually manage 1 practice session a week. Maybe if some kind of event is coming up, I'll try to get out of work early on a Friday and get to the range a second time

What I need to do is use that limited time much more constructively than I have been.

I don't practice except a few swings in the backyard with no ball.  I also don't warm up on the range before play.  I think my handi is going to trend up slightly this year.  Courses have been a mess so far.

My playing partners have told me this year my swing looks smoother than it used to and they have commented favorably on many of my follow through so that's nice.  I used to do 2-3 range sessions a week with short game too for the last few years.  My short game distance control and putting have cost me last two rounds but my full swing has been better than or as effective as ever.  If I hit balls I tend to start manipulating my swing too much and flinching at impact on the full swing.  My daily few swings just locks in the feel of no hit just swing deeper and deeper the more I do it.  (I basically developed almost full swing yips before).

Now,  when I just play I am able to swing through the ball much better than in the past.  I've kinda gotten the hang of it finally.

For me not practicing short game/putting is hurting me some.

I practice when I don't have something more important to do. Either I practice indoors at home, in my back yard, go to the practice greens, the range, or do a practice round.

For me I love the practice rounds - mainly I just like being on the golf course, and you get to do a little bit of everything.
