Great time today, guys. Despite my being practically dead.

Definitely count me in for the NE Ohio one...I can even help plan it if necessary.

The first group out…

2017-08-20 13.41.12.jpg

I ran back pretty quickly and just made it to my Behrend meeting in time.

Had a great time! The other groups will be posting their photos shortly. I think @vasaribm took a few of them.

Oh, the photo above was from #17 green. A 150-yard par three where my ball raked the flag and stick (3' away for a birdie), and @vasaribm landed 4' short and hopped up to 2' for a birdie. Nearly two aces on back to back shots.

@Slice of Life followed those up with what was not going to be an ace… ;-) (but a nice up and down for par).

It was great seeing all the folks who made it out this weekend! Lots of fun even with the rain delays on Saturday. Next year we'll try to do one in Central Ohio in May or June

My round today.

https://bnc.lt/yzOb/pPOGKDPHKF

Had a great time with Bryan, Kevin, Erik, and George. We almost got away with the weather. The first round of storms past by us by like a mile. We got thru the 11th hole and the lightning warning horn sounded. We had about a 30 min wait after hole 13.

Looking forward to tomorrow.

What is it about TST get-togethers and bad weather??  April 2016 we had snow flurries in Virginia, May 2017 we had light rain.  Even January 2017 when @mvmac and @Golfingdad joined my friends and me at Classic Club in Palm Springs we just barely beat the monsoon.

Its nice to see that y'all had a good time, in spite of it all.

Definitely enjoyed the day. Beautiful day for golf. Played about as well as expected overall, but didn't let the struggles interfere with the experience at all. I look forward to this outing every year and hope to make at least one other next year.

IKR? @Valleygolfer and @boogielicious came up to play with me in Maine last week and the weather was absolutely atrocious. High 70's and sunny. Just awful :-P

Sorry Dave, I couldn't help myself :-D

I'm going to try to get something put together in the next week or two. Let me know if any weekends are better than others.

Count me in.

Weekends of August 11/12 or 25/26 work best for me, I'm free both days on those weekends. If its the weekend of 18/19 I'm only free the 19th.

Based on a different thread a few weeks back, I bet @SmiterofPV1x and @Carl3 will be interested too.

I don't know of anything that would conflict with any date in August. I may be volunteering at an outing on July 21, but that's all I have scheduled.

Yes, but I can't do August 11 or 12.

I'd love to. Unfortunately, every weekend in August is out for me. I'll still be following this closely...just in case.

    • Day 11: did mirror work for a while. Worked on the same stuff.
    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
