So, how much did you spend on just green fees in 2017?

My wife handles our taxes, and expenditures. She told me today I spent right at $3500.00. :-O I didn't think it was that much. I don't dare add in travel, and what I might of spent at the 19th hole.

Luckily some of that is write offs for a small LLC I have going. :-(

$850. Most of that was the annual pass green fee at my muni (no cart).

If I play 50 weeks per year, twice on the weekend on munis - walking with a push cart - I will pay $40 per green fee - $4k. But let's say I play 35 weekends with my playing partners - that's $2800. Then I will play on vacations for about 10 days at more exclusive places - let's say $80 - or $800 - Still, we're talking $3600-4000. If I quit spending on equipment, bags, and take less lessons after June 2018 (swing change), I'll be spending less money on golf than previous years.

This makes me feel good about myself!

Membership: £600
Other courses: £725 (of which £220 was Royal Lytham and St Annes, £100 was Formby and £70 was Saunton).

Total of £1325. Not too bad in comparison, but definitely more than I had thought!

Currently focusing on: Key 4 - shorter backswing.

I was going to say just a few hundred bucks, but $240 to play Torrey Pines South blew my budget up a bit. ;-)

I keep track of how much I spend, though it includes buying new clubs, 19th hole/food, and tournament fees. Its more than it probably should be. No kids yet, thankfully.

Do we need to count entertaining clients?

If it is just personal rounds, ~$3,500.

$1600 CDN for my annual dues at my home course.  Probably spent another $1000 at a few other locals and a couple of rounds on holidays.  Come to think of it golf was expensive on vacation.  Better add another grand to that.

I spent about $5400.

My club membership is $2800.  Unlimited play, covers cart fees and unlimited range balls.

Then on most every Wednesday I play with a traveling group where the greens fees average $40 which this year came to $1200.

Then I made a trip to South Carolina to play 11 of the top 15 Courses You Can Play in South Carolina according to Golfweek Magazine -- the greens fees were $1360.

Most important was my wife encourages me to play all I want!!    And of course there are additional costs for clubs, balls, gloves, clothing, ....

If I moved 2 miles I could get the city of San Diego golf card and play it way cheaper. I’m not moving though and have only played Torrey once. Maderas is a better deal and less crowded

A rough guess is $1,400, including cart.  The place I play most often is $49 on weekends, and I played maybe 25 or so times there and a couple or three more at other places.  They have a plan that includes two courses, unlimited golf, cart, and range balls for around $1,800, so I should do that this year I guess. My main golf buddy does that and that is why we play there. I haven't done it because I have a course I like as well or better that is 20 minutes closer and like the freedom to play there when I want. The wife would frown on me paying for a plan, then playing another course frequently. Also, I don't know that I would have had time to play more, but really if I add on what I likely spent there for range balls, I would still have been better off with the plan.
