I enjoy this show and pick up some valid tips. What do you guys think?

Side-topic: My wife doesn't believe Blair O'Neal got the job as  co-host  based on her golfing ability. I assure her it was strictly merit based.

I use old Taylor Made clubs from eBay and golf shops.

I have watched a few episodes of the show. A few times they had something that was of interest to me. Problem was, after watching, I would go off to do something else, and forget what I saw that interested me.

Not a fan. I think it's too easy for this show to screw you up. It's like the TV version of an issue of Golf Digest.

I think the best way to improve your golf is to focus on a particular part of your game and complete a structured program of practice with a defined start and end which provides a real solution to a problem part of your game. Otherwise you can easily get distracted onto other areas and never properly focus.

I agree with this. My problem with any of the GC shows (which I usually enjoy) is that it often becomes like surfing “webmd” late at night...you start to believe you have the disease after reading the symptoms! It’s important to determine a priority piece and focus solely on that until it becomes a strength or a smaller weakness.

Not really. I only pass by it when channel surfing. I learned more from Cameron McCormick's recent TGC show on wedges.

Blair is a pretty good golfer. The show gives 'tips' that have been presented a thousand times before in different ways. e.g. the above video tells you to hit a bit inside out through impact. Meh. I guess, the thought is that fresh packaging keeps instruction fresh.

Obviously there are always folks who manage to squeeze out something every now and then that works for them but most golfers don't end up with anything terribly meaningful or long lasting. I don't fault the show for that but it's just not a very effective medium of learning.

I will say, guys like Hall, Breed along with their demo models are pretty high energy and keeps the show from being a complete snoozer.

Every once in awhile they will say something that I might have forgotten or was doing as well as I used to. This happens about once every couple of months. Buy as was stated before....I'll tune in to see how Blair is hitting it.

My bag:

Taylor Made Burner 2 irons (stiff)

I agree. I'm only looking for simple tips, Anything that would be a major swing change, would probably screw me up.

True. It screwed up my buddy with his driver. He heard that the driver should contact the ball in an upward path. The harder he tries to get the ball up, the faster it dives down, like top spin in Tennis.

I’m not sure your friend is doing what you think he’s doing. And maybe you misunderstood what the GC was saying?

If I'm channel surfing and I see Blair, I'll screech to a halt and look, depending on her outfit. The tips (golf tips)...not so much. One question though, do her skirts conform to the new LPGA dress code?

I am guilty of watching for Blair as well.

Breed was loud and jacked... fun to watch.

Hall is somewhat boring... too laid back.

They do work good together.

The problem with the show is not that they give bad advice, but that people pick up the advice and somehow think it will fix all their swing troubles regardless of what the original problem with their swing actually was.

People can end up hurting their swing with the advice because they're getting the wrong feel or trying something that doesn't really even apply to them.

I avoid McLesson content like the plague.

Since Big Break left (even before) I pretty much watch GC for Feherty and tournament coverage.
