Poa can be tricky this time of year, where the heads are trying to pop up. Some spots break, others don’t with no indication why. Maybe why there were not as many putts dropping.

Yup! There's a local course that just starves their greens for water about this time of year, depending on the conditions. I asked why several years ago. They said that this is the time of year, in NE Ohio, when Poa Annua will try to establish itself in their greens. Lack of water inhibits that.

Poe Annua is easy to recognize. The grass can be cut short, but you can still see little seed heads down in the grass. As it grows throughout the day, it make the greens increasingly "bumpy".

We played a local course this afternoon where we had 10 foot putts hopping like rabbits in heat! Poa Annua greens!

Agree.  I was somewhat expecting more of a move by one or two players given the favorable conditions, but it's as though the course has a governor on the throttle.

How would you classify the following? Surely they are "moves".

Hoffman 69

Koepka 66

Fleetwood 66

Poulter until his 17th

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

That's all this place talks about so it can't be helped. 😀

Jack, 18 majors (the GOAT) 😄.

Boy Poulter sure stunk up the last bit of his round. Charlie Hoffman, where did he come from?

NOT FUNNY

My parents are in heaven, I hope to join them there some day.

I've owned my house since 2004, that means paid for, can you say the same boogielicious, you got that beat???

Yup I do. And I’m not a troll like you. Why don’t you try and not troll the forum about Woods for a while. Grow up a bit. It’s not that hard.

Reminds me of the time I was invited to play in a charity scramble at a local country club. I'd stroke a putt uphill, and it would roll a mile by! I'd stroke a putt downhill, and it would end up a mile short! One of our team, who had played there a few times before, informed me that it was because of the grain.

Well, I had never played such "grainy" greens in my entire life! I was helpless out there! I had no idea what the ball was going to do.

Uhhhh, no.

And the point of the earlier part was that there are 10s that got to be 10s playing tougher courses. I know 10s at Oakmont that can play anywhere.

I hate this course. The greens remind me of Pinehurst #2 on a bad day.

Even if I could afford it, I would never want to play here or become a member.

Thank you USGA.

Yeah it’s funny and harmless. Reminds of when an analyst made the joke ‘well I guess Sergio won’t be naming any kids Fire Thorn’ after his baker’s dozen at Augusta. Unfortunately Sergio’s wife demanded an apology and said her ‘family was attacked’ and that ‘he had no right to say that. If he was known as a comedian he could say that...but he’s not so he can’t’ I really lost some respect for her after that.

This is why the tournament isn't over. DJ is putting lights out, but look at those SG: Approach.

Also look at Tiger's SG: Approach. :censored:

Am I seeing that Leishman (tied for 5th) is ranked 10th for SG Approach...yet 123rd for SG Putt......And Tiger 126/109 respectively yet he says in post round interview it was his Putting that did him in?

Oh Bo hooo. I show up once in a while, usually during a major.

So you can' handle someone with a different opinion on Woods. Who really needs to grow up? You come a lot closer to the snowflake living in mommy and daddy's basement if a different opinion offends little boogielicous.

Jack,18 majors, GOAT.

Hah, what did I win?

Next question: what will be the winning score? I put it on -2.

Agree.  I knew 10's at Austin Country Club that would shoot par at just about any other course in the area.  I also know the 10 that I am carrying right now will probably blow up when we move and I don't have my pretty forgiving course in my backyard to play any longer.

Have always heard if you were a single digit handicap or less at Shinnecock, Oakmont, The Champions or Merion you could probably shoot par just about any place else.

Will they make the course harder by pin placement and letting the greens get faster or are there other means? I’d like it to stay hard and keep the winner closer to par.

    • Nice, I just thought mine was a decent guess to rule out a few things and did not expect to hole out.
    • Hey team. This is a very difficult hole at the course I started golfing on and where I often go back. I always struggle - it’s narrow (35y) with trees on both sides. If you go lateral, you’re out of bounds. The green also feels small.    I play the white tees usually, so 30 or so yards up from here. If I hit my driver, it usually goes lateral and lost or if it curves it hits a tree and I lose a ton of distance.   I carry my 7i probably about 140-145, with 5-7 yards of roll out. Driver is 265 with roll out on a good strike with a premium ball, but probably closer to 220 carry on average. My hybrid goes about 180-200 including roll out but has been fading quite a bit recently not too much wind on this hole and the ground is hard, but I’m not sure I’ve practiced a long punch. If that’s what I need to work on, happy to put in the time.  Appreciate any advice anyone has, approach to holes like this, or other things to consider.
