I was rather surprised that 44% answered yes to having witnessed a fellow player cheat during a tournament.

This is an absurd list. Anthony Kim???  And putting Bubba as more talented than Tiger? No. And DJ as way more talented than Tiger?? No again.

Well it’s probably from young tour players..seem the most likely to take the poll. Those who didn’t observe Tiger when in his prime or did but were too young probably just go to what they actually see currently.

I would not be surprised. When walking, watching tournaments in person, I have seen some players (lesser known) move balls either by accident, or on purpose. Then look around to see who might be watching.

Tiger himself said John Daly had ten times his talent. Tiger works hard. I think DJ and Bubba have more talent.

And the way polls work you can’t say multiple times more talent just because he’s 44% to 14% or whatever.

100% of people would say that Sidney Crosby is more talented than some random third line center, but that doesn’t mean he’s infinitely more talented or even 50 times more talented than the other guy.

This is what I thought, too. Tiger's got talent obviously, but he spends a lot of time on his game.

When I think of pure talent, I think of guys not really know for practicing but still went out and played well like Fred Couples.

Isn't the ability to stay focussed and work hard part of talent?

Kinda, but that's not really what people are talking about.

Sometimes not at all. I've known people who work hard and stay focused but are terrible at whatever it is they're focused and working hard on. I work extremely hard and stay very focused on golf and I'm terrible. I think someone who is talented can certainly have those traits, but I don't think they are necessarily a component of talent.

I'd be careful doing this. It's kind of copyrighted material. Link to the article would be better.

I was actually surprised by how many players have played a tournament round hung-over. Must have polled some older guys because I didn't think the younger players ate or drank much (that is bad for them)  with all the personal trainers and private chefs they use. I also thought it was kinda funny seeing that they all think that their pace of play is good.

Yeah and those flat-bellies are probably good boys 99.5% of the time. But we all know this is a game that can drive one to drink.

I respectfully disagree with Tiger and you :/...and I guess the majority of the tour players. Yes Tiger has historically had a better work ethic than most everyone out there but I think in the history of the game he is also a top 3 talent of all time. Talent is a very subjective category but that’s just my take.

Talent is a funny thing. Raw talent is just that....raw. It is quite amazing to think how much people like John Daly could have achieved with his level of talent if he had worked harder. Obviously, he achieved quite a bit..but its hard not to wonder what could have been.

I saw it a lot in my T&F days as well. Guys with natural talent in their right leg than I had in my entire body, but their work ethic and focus were just not there...and their achievements paled in comparison to what should have been.

    • Hi @RetiredOldMan!  I am glad to see you are still playing and having good scores.  I hope that when I am 79, I am not only able to play, but still able to produce as good scores as you have been doing.   I look forward to hearing more of your success and your opinion of the senior flex shafts.
    • Hello Golfing Buddies, It has been awhile since I posted but I am the Retired Old Man that asked for advice because I suffered two "T.I.A.'s about switching from playing right handed to playing left handed.  I purchased a Callaway Edge Left handed golf clubs. I changed the grips to oversize grips.  Well, two weeks ago and still at 79 years old, I shot a 44 and 47 on a small course in my hometown.  I am currently changing my shafts from regular flex to Senior flex.  So, you can see' it can be done! So, you other old timers; get with the program! Blessings to all of you. Retired Old Man (Terry Warner)

    • Probably since the golfer has to swing the club back and up. The hands have to move back and up. You can feel them go back and up just by turning the shoulders and bending the right arm, because it brings your hands towards your right shoulder.  The difference is if you maintain width or not. Less width means a shorter feeling swing path so the more you need to lift the arms. Being as someone who gets the right arm bend at 110+ degrees, it's 100% a timing issue. I am use to like a 1.5+ second backswing. It probably should be like 1 second at most. Half a second or more will feel like an eternity. I have had swings where I keep my right arm straighter and I am still trying to time the downswing based on the old tempo.  Ideally, for me, it is probably going to be a much quicker and shorter (in duration) backswing, while keeping the right elbow straighter. Which also means more hinging to get swing length without over swinging.
