Not sure about that. It’s possible that a newer driver head could be more forgiving in a way that helps my shots?

Perhaps. But maybe you’re needing forgiveness would be lessened with a better shaft.

Ping G15.  I have tried some of the newer versions but for my swing I saw no noticeable difference, plus it is not adjustable which this older golfer prefers.

Taylormade M2 '17. Although I want to get a Cobra F8 tour length really bad, I just bought the M2 a month ago. :/. Probably have to wait til next season when the price comes down.

Getting fit is pretty important for sure, and most of us could use all the help we can get that we can afford.

An old PING G5. Dropped it in favour of an Adams Blue 3w as i've fallen out with the PING and i can get away with the 3w on the course i have been playing.

Money is also a big factor at the moment.

Benross. I don't think brand matters at all as long as it's a reasonably reputable brand.

So far I am surprised at the evenness of most of the major brands and that Titleist is the lowest of the majors. I thought for sure that TM with their market saturation would be further ahead than everyone. Also the Ping G400 has me interested in trying it.....

Wilson Staff Triton

My experience in the states has been this....

W/S performs on par with TaylorMade, Titleist, Ping, Callaway -and- it's a better price.

I used a taylormade R540 for a minute. (i still have it actually) but otherwise I've used Titleist drivers for all of the years I've played golf. Their 975J model was one of the best clubs I've ever owned. The 905R was a great club, too.

Callaway Big Bertha V Series. Got a new shaft last year, which has made the driver into a (bigger) strength for me. I very rarely hit drives off the planet anymore. Used to happen once or twice a round.

I have played Taylor Made Drivers since about 1992....until I hit the Callaway Epic. I hit it further and straighter than any Taylor Made I have used. I have found the best driver for me is the Epic Sub-zero. Long and I keep it in play.

My bag:

Taylor Made R7 (x-stiff).
Taylor Made Burner 2 irons (stiff)

I voted "other" as well as I play a couple different drivers. Got a mutant golf brute head with a house of forged shaft, Callaway xr16 ld with a xphlexxx shaft, and a Krank golf F7 head with their fujikura flywire shaft. I tend to like the Krank the best, Callaway second, and the mutant third.

I added another thread that pairs well with this one. The question is what factors went into selecting your current driver.

Did play it last year for the first time and it is awesome.

    • Day 47: simulator day! Played St. Andrew’s and shot a +1. Not bad, especially with having to putt at this simulator set up. Had about 5 minutes at the end to work on some feels as well.
    • I think you're saying it's preposterous to think that the areas on this club are anything like what's shown here: 30mm toward the toe or heel loses only 5% distance? Highly, highly doubtful. So a guy who hits the ball there and normally hits the ball about 250… will hit it instead about 238. By missing the sweet spot by about 1.2 inches? Highly, highly doubtful. Heck, the high heel barely gets into the red, and orange is only "up to" 10%! @M2R, I've never heard of "Ask Golf Nut" but I'm dubious of his claims in the video and really, really dubious of what's on his site: "Why AskGolfNut Is the Most Trusted Data-Driven Golf Resource". Hmmmmmm.
