Thanks for the offer @Vinsk, but I wouldn't want to inconvenience you. They don't look easy to acquire.

I’ve seen them at the merchandise store every year. I’ll be there Friday. Shouldn’t be a problem I assume😃

Can someone tell me what he was doing there?

If it's a boundary fence, he wouldn't get relief… but he'd have also been OB.

If it's not a boundary fence… why didn't he get relief?

Never mind, I guess his ball was barely in bounds, so it was an OB fence.

"I didn't even think of that," Phil Mickelson said sheepishly as he finally located his ball on the wrong side of the O.B. fence.

Based on the caption on Bubba's original video, I think they were making fun of the whole caddie standing in the line rules thing that has been going on lately.

I figure that's it. The only other thing it could be is a method for teaching Arnie's "anti-hook" follow through!

Why the hell didn't he take an unplayable?

And how in the world is that ball not OB? I guess enough of it was under the fence that it was still in bounds?

OB is the inner (course side) edge of the posts at ground level.

Yeah. Would have saved him one stroke. And since he would have been taking lateral relief from the spot of the ball, it would have gotten him 2 club lengths relief area instead of the 1 club length for dropping for “stroke and distance” OB.

That’s the second time in a year he should have taken an unplayable lie.

Lol no arguments there.  His personality just rubs me the wrong way and it was a good opportunity to throw in the good old Shark Tank line.

Yeah, stuff like this is the best part of Phil. I mean, what did he think was going to happen? Did he really think it was going to get over the fence? I get avoiding an unplayable if you think you can advance the ball, but that seems really unlikely in this situation.

So, during the interview he explained that he thought there was enough opening/gap between the net and ground to squeeze it through. I actually buy that, but to attempt it right handed with an upside down shovel clubface made me shake my head. But he insisted it was an execution gaffe more than planning. Of course, the only time Phil ever admitted to a bad choice was in 2006.

What gap? Come on, Phil.

This is more proof of my theory that Phil thinks he's a lot smarter than he actually is. Don't get me wrong, it's wildly entertaining. But he's not some savant like he seems to think he is.

    • Hello Golfing Buddies, It has been awhile since I posted but I am the Retired Old Man that asked for advice because I suffered two "T.I.A.'s about switching from playing right handed to playing left handed.  I purchased a Callaway Edge Left handed golf clubs. I changed the grips to oversize grips.  Well, two weeks ago and still at 79 years old, I shot a 44 and 47 on a small course in my hometown.  I am currently changing my shafts from regular flex to Senior flex.  So, you can see' it can be done! So, you other old timers; get with the program! Blessings to all of you. Retired Old Man (Terry Warner)

    • Probably since the golfer has to swing the club back and up. The hands have to move back and up. You can feel them go back and up just by turning the shoulders and bending the right arm, because it brings your hands towards your right shoulder.  The difference is if you maintain width or not. Less width means a shorter feeling swing path so the more you need to lift the arms. Being as someone who gets the right arm bend at 110+ degrees, it's 100% a timing issue. I am use to like a 1.5+ second backswing. It probably should be like 1 second at most. Half a second or more will feel like an eternity. I have had swings where I keep my right arm straighter and I am still trying to time the downswing based on the old tempo.  Ideally, for me, it is probably going to be a much quicker and shorter (in duration) backswing, while keeping the right elbow straighter. Which also means more hinging to get swing length without over swinging.

    • I'm currently recuperating from surgery, so no golf, but have been thinking about this quite a bit. This and the don't overbend the right arm thing. It's hard for me to even pose the position, so I'm not 100% sure, but I feel like it's impossible to have the right humerus along the shirt seam and not overbend your right arm, unless your hands are down near your hips. If the left arm is up at or above the shoulder plane and your right arm is bent less than 90 degrees, then your right humerus has to raise or your hands will get pulled apart. Your left hand can't reach your right hand unless either the right upper arm is up or the right arm is overbent. Is that right? If it is, then focusing on not overbending the right arm would force you to raise the humerus. And actually thinking further on it, if you do overbend your right arm, then you're basically forcing your upper arm down or forcing your left arm to bend. Since (for me at least) bending the left arm too much is not something I think I need to worry about, it means that the bend in the trail arm is really the driving force behind what happens to the right humerus.
