I was being ironic to a point. That was the way it's supposed to be, but who seriously gives a toss about them? It wouid be different if they took the "World" part of it seriously.

Nope. I'm fully on the other side of this take.

They tried the WGCs in other places. The players didn't travel. The WGC Match Play that took place in… what… Australia went down to about #98 in the OWGR to fill the field of 64 when normally it doesn't get out of the 60s and often not below 65 or 66?

Majors > WGCs > Memorial/Arnold Palmer/Etc. > Regular PGA Tour event > Opposite Field event

Yes - I blame the players too, but this is why there needs to be a secondary tour which is truly international.

Where the WGCs lost me - and I'm not talking about money or OWGR points or perceived status - is the atmosphere free zone of the Matchplay when it was a pure knockout, with 2 guys playing on the last day and another two who wanted to be anywhere else. They tried to correct it with the group format, but I think the damage was done. And the way Rory and Tiger tanked this year makes the last couple of rounds a complete snoozefest. And.... the lacklustre winners in fields where up and coming hot players (probably for justifiable reasons)  can't be there. Wouldn't it have been great to have seen Morikawa, Wolff and Hovland playing this week? But..we digress from the OT. :-)

Nah.

OT for this topic, so… that's all I'll say about that here. Completely against your take on this one.

If Koepka wins the St. Jude, you can all but give him the Player of the Year title again. One major, a WGC, and a top-4 finish in every major. Unless Woodland or Woods went on to win the Tour Championship, winning a couple of the playoff events, it should be all but wrapped up.

Koepka won it and showed, in my opinion, class in his remarks about the St. Jude's Children's Hospital and to the young patient on the 18th hole. Kudos. And a nice payday!

Brooks is just a beast. Absolutely crushing the field this year but somehow I just cant root for the guy. I dont hate him or anything but well, it is just different.

I were rooting for Rory but when I saw him pairing with BK I just thought to myself he had no freaking chance 😞

I think he just places them in the Memorial/AP/Etc.

Brooks Koepka had little time at the course before his tee time, but it didn't bother him. "I don't know why everyone else is in a panic."

I’m actually surprised more players don’t do this. I always found to play better with just a short warm up and played worse when I warmed up 90 minutes or two hours prior to a round, especially where I live where it’s 90+ degrees every day in the summer. It’s good strategy to not wear yourself out too early in the heat.

Koepka is in a zone of excellence now.  His ability to save par with the putter and make birdies when he needs to is what makes him the best right now.  He should be POY unless someone else runs the table at the fedex events.

Brooks is my hero, better then Captain America, harder then the Hulk, tougher then  Chuck Norris. Always rooting for him, except when Tiger is in the mix.

I think the global path that Brooks took to the PGA has really helped to hone his mental toughness and maybe the chip he plays with.

I also have a feeling he takes greater pleasure in destroying some players who have a sense of entitlement or are hyped beyond their ability.  There is just this put-them-in-their place attitude, especially when paired together.  His cool demeanor and matter-of-fact approach has to totally demoralize some opponents.

This was a really interesting read...

See I think this is healthy for the pro tour, when people find a way to move past Tiger. I did it when Jordan was hot, and Tiger was absent from the tour.
I'm not saying don't root for Tiger, but like @MacDutch it is a good thing to find a rooting interest on tour beyond the GOAT.

I agree as a huge Tiger fan. I just can’t take to Brooks. He’s not a very charismatic guy and he’s not the dominant destroyer Tiger was ( can’t expect that.) I respect his talent but he’s just a bore. If he had the same drive for working on his game as he does going to a gym he could probably make a Tiger run. I certainly don’t have any ill sentiment toward him like I do Sergio I just think he’s a total dud on personality.

    • Day 24 (4 Dec 25) - Spent about an hour working with the new 55° wedge in the backyard.  Kept all shots to under 20yds.  Big focus - not decelerating thru downswing and keeping speed up with abbreviated backswing.  Nothing like hitting a low flighted chip with plenty of check spin and then purpose to float a pitch of similar distance.
    • Day 114 12-4 Put some work in on backswing, moving the hips correctly, then feeling over to lead side. Didn't hit any balls was just focused on keeping flowy and moving better. I'll probably do another session tonight and add in some foam balls.
    • Didn't say anything about your understanding in my post.  Well, if you are not insisting on alignment with logic of the WHS, then no.  Try me/us. What do you want from us then?? You are not making sense. You come here and post in an open forum, question a system that is constructed with logic, without using any of your own and then give us a small window of your personal experience to support your narrative which at first sight does not makes sense.  I mean, if you are a point of swearing then I would suggest you cut your losses and humor a more gullible audience elsewhere. Good heavens.
    • I have access to far more data (including surveys and polls) than you do with your anecdotes. I mean this as plainly and literally as possible: you’ve demonstrated that you do not. They would, one way or the other.
    • Yes, but you don't live in the UK, so you have no idea what we think about it here. It's a very different mindset here, to demonstrate the fact you should consider 9 out of 10 games we play here are Stableford, whereas you you almost solely play medal. Neither is right or wrong, it's just different  I'm trying to avoid swearing here. Once again, and for the 1000th time, I understand the system, I just don't agree with it. Is there anything wrong with that? PS, I do not have the time or patience to post my results, especially as they prove nothing  That's because 99% of the posters are Yanks
