I saw this happen.  Poulter mis-hit the ball because the fan did it on the downswing.  He got what he deserved.

That’s not what Poulter said...but either way it’s just asinine to yell that kind of stuff at these guys. It makes one look like Sergio....

Rather the fan deserved to be tossed, or not, over all, it looks bad for the game.

Ejected, I assume means from the whole property. Yeah, the fan was an idiot, but perhaps moving him to another gallery, with a stern warning, might have been the better road to take.

Poulter to me comes across as one of those thin skinned, me first golfers. He breeds arrogance, and brings alot of these poor fan interactions on himself. It would not surprise me to find out he looks for instances to have people tossed. He enjoys it at a personal level.

I wouldn't particularly defend Poulter, but if we accept asinine behavior from Poulter detractors, do we also accept it when a crowd favorite gets the same treatment?  I can't imagine what Poulter did to bring on this specific fan's rudeness. To me, the rules of acceptable behavior apply to all fans, no matter who they're cheering for or against.

Poulter is also not one of my favorite players, but he is always in the hunt, and I feel he really works hard on his game. He doesnt smile, or interact with the crowd, but he does usually get his business done.

I enjoy watching these guys work, and to have basically idiots like some of the guys who go to these tournaments just to yell "GET IN THE HOLE", well, not much else can be said.

Next time just stay home and watch it on TV. Then you can yell just whatever you want...

Over the top punishment IMO.  As long as it wasn't said during his swing, Poulter needs thicker skin.  If he would have yelled "get in the hole" would he have had him bounced? Likely not...he hit a bad shot, and can't deal with it.

Good riddance. I wouldn't want that shouted to Poulter anymore than I'd want it to Tiger or Stricker.

One idiot yelling at another idiot. And then the idiot ejecting the idiot. They should meet up for a beer. They have lots in common.

The jerk deserved to be ejected.

But this is the real crime:

“It is a shame, I hope we can control it more going forward and it gets stamped out, because it is not needed in the game of golf," Poulter said of the incident.

Is there a more ubiquitous and meaningless term that is redundant pretty much 100% of the time it's used?
