I'm guessing he'll provide details of how he did it. This inspires me to get the ball rolling on that too.

OK, 6 day fasting period, coffee. Difficult to maintain once weight is lost though.

The world champion golfer lost 15 pounds through a diet of coffee and water.

Don't you lose weight from eating "brownies"?  maybe that's gain weight because you always have the munchies..  Not sure.

The fast is just what he used as a reset to get started. He didn't look as lean right after the fast as he does now. He's lost a good bit since that fast. Of course, it is much easier to do when you have someone preparing all of your meals and a trainer that you see every day..haha

It's IG so who knows what's been done this photo as far as editing goes but he's kinda getting to the point where his head is too big for his body imo. I am interested to see how well he will play this year with the life style changes before he turns 50 and moves onto the Champions Tour though!

This included a six day fasting period, in which he lived on a special blend of coffee and water.

I wonder what was special about it. Did it not involve grinding roasted beans and using water to extract parts of the coffee and end up with a hot or cold drink?

If he's anything like me, he'll find it bye and bye.

But then again, what the hell do I know?

if you google phil mickelson+coffee there are some blurbs about some special coffee guru he gets his coffee from, but these articles are from a few years ago, though i imagine the 2 coffees are related.  that being said, I dont think the type of coffee really matters. at the end of the day, he did a fast, and lost a ton of weight, and it was part of a greater lifestyle change of his that has definitely shown fruits lately.  He looks leaner and definitely has more of a V look to his torso than he had even a few months ago.  he was more of a rectangle on his best days, but he looks 15 years younger right now, and I've definitely been considering a fast since hearing him talk about it.  Would probably be a pretty effective way to lose some extra fat fast, but obviously you would have to make a bit of a lifestyle change to maintain it.

    • Day 159 1-19 Flow drill while attempting to add arch in wrist on downswing. Not where it needs to be but felt good working on swing flow.
    • Day 1 (19 Jan 26) - after a week lay-off due to travels, felt great to get in some drills in the backyard today.  Started with lead arm only short pitches focused on squared face and light divot post ball.  Haven’t done this in a while and it showed, with some skulls and slices.  Settled into easy flighted balls - wrapped up with standard two handed swings.  Good restart to the daily drills.
    • That depends what you do within those two.  Are they your only options?   Check out Fit for Golf if you get a moment.  It's linked on the sidebar;  I did it for two years, stopped for a really bad reason, and I plan to get back to it soon.   Mike Carroll also has a great free podcast about a lot of topics in golf fitness.
    • Day 19, 1/19.  Finished work in time to spend 25 minutes hitting balls (hit 15) indoors, off a mat, into the net.  Usual focus.
    • Day 30 - 2026-01-19 Got 10 minutes in on the mat / net working on exagerrating movements I'm working on. And grip. Also worked with my friendly AI to summarize key negative tendencies I have so that I can build a personal checklist to follow. Will do more mirror work tonight.
