I was in San Diego at age 43. Working for a start up company Scientific Computer Systems. I was happy for Jack although that was probably the only time I was rooting for him to win. Was never a big fan of his.

I was managing a Service Merchandise. I was working that day. The sporting goods manager called me over because he had sold out of this weird, oversized putter we had in stock. Could not figure out why.

I was 15 and had just gotten my drivers license, I am sure I was out committing various moving violations.

I remember watching it vividly. My whole family watched it as we were all golf fans/players. I was a junior in high school so it was strange to do anything with the entire family ( parents/ two brothers) in those days...lol. Living in Midland, TX at that time.

I was three years old. I had a video of that year hitting a plastic ball with a plastic golf club inside my home.
But for us Argentinians the 86 is remembered for the 2nd Soccer World Cup that we won, it was in June so pritty close.

I was in my living room watching with my now wife, and current next door neighbors. We lived in a shi**y duplex in Winchester, MA with brown shag rugs. I remember the most about the tournament,

"Seve Ballesteros self-destructing on the back nine".

I also recall in horror that grown men would wear pants like Nicklaus. Looks like he shopped at K-mart for the outfit. Attention K-mart Shoppers - Polyester in Aisle 3 is on sale now!

I was 26 an engaged to be married to my wife of 33 years. We played some golf, but really had no time or money to play a lot. I bought my wife a lefty set of Ram clubs that year.

Yes, there were some ugly golf clothes back in the day, and Nicklaus was hardly alone! All there was was cotton and polyester, and this awful fabric called Ban-Lon! If you wore a Ban-Lon shirt, it would make you look like you had man boobs, even if you didn't! And if you did? Oh my!

Working....I worked long hours from Fri-Sun as a maitre'd while completing my MBA from Mon-Thurs....likely DVD'd it to watch it when I came home late that night.

FWIW.....I remember ironing a shirt watching the Challenger explode and was just waking up before 6am PST to get ready to drive 400 km for a business conference on 9/11....I thought it was only a small plane that 1st crashed into the World Trade Center.

30% of the conference attendees were no shows because all the planes were grounded and they could not fly into the business meeting.

I'm old as dirt...also remember watching the moon landing live as a kid too.

If I recall correctly, there were no DVR's in 1986. I'm not even sure there were VCR's, but maybe there were. I've always been a little behind the technical avant garde!

I still that the Sony Betamax.    I can't bring myself to throw it away.    DVR wasn't around until around 1999 thanks to TIVO.

The first VCR, introduced in 1975 by Sony, carried a list price of $1,400. Five years later, according to figures compiled by the Electronic Industries Association, a Washington-based trade group, the average price to dealers was down to $771 a unit. In 1982, it dropped to $640 and then to $528 in 1983.

Probably off somewhere pooping in my pants. I remember vividly the first time tiger won the masters though. I was watching in the common room in my college dorm on some crappy little tv mounted like 12 feet in the air. You could barley make out anything on it.

Where was I during the 1986 Masters?  I have a tough enough time remembering the 1990s. I know I was in Vegas.

I probably watched a little of that Masters, as it has always been one of my three favorite majors. To this day I cannot tell you who won the previous years majors.

I know I was developing property into single family residences back then.

My wife was putting in a lot hours at her hospital job. We didnt see much of each other.

I was definately playing single digit golf back then. Mostly at the old DesertRose/Winterwood course.

Our two daughters ages,  12, and 8 were involved in Bobby Sox girls fast pitch softball. A stepping stone to "free"college for both of them.

Our family dog was a big old Yellow Lab name Jake. We also had two cats. Lucky, and Tom.

Memories are a good thing.

A whole bunch of Tour Edge golf stuff......

I was in my mid-twenties and in France then. I was visiting my parents that Sunday. With the time difference, this was showing in the evening and I remember watching every shot of the back 9, and see Jack triumphantly raising his putter.
