If I was the PGA Tour, I would write up a new players contract before LIV players come back. I would wipe clean the exemptions for winning tournaments of any non-current PGA Tour player, and get rid of the LIV player PGA Tour cards. Then require them to go through Q-School or get sponsor exemptions to play. Force them to start over like they are a brand new PGA Tour player. You are now at year zero.

Phil has no credibility whatsoever. He’ll say anything or do anything for an easy buck. He only joined LIV to pay off his gambling debts

Ugh. Just what we need. In what universe is this an important enough topic for Congress to get involved? I want my money back.

Agree, Congress is a bit much. But the DOJ does get involved in cases involving monopolies, so there is some precedent.

I got this in an email this evening from my PGA Section. So many people confuse the two. Sad that this had to be sent out. But hopefully people start to use the names properly more often.

I agree that there are far more important issues for them to work on.

However there is a reason they have committees, and if there is going to be money flowing as a part of the merger and they are going charge spectators and broadcast on TV networks, a closer look by non-partisan hacks (hopefully), is not a bad thing.
Not to mention congress can then refer their finding to DOJ and request an investigation. Which of course the DOJ does not blindly follow the referral, but sometimes.

Not to oversimplify this but PIF has a seat at the table and now has some influence. I am not sure if they will exert much influence, but they do have it because of the purse strings. The question I ask is have they accomplished their goals of becoming part of the world professional golf stage? Absolutely. Do they really want to be involved in the day-to-day? Not so much. As long as everything lines up and advances their goals they should be happy being in the background and in the Board Room.
