Don’t forget fishing, golf, and gun ranges!  

Oh yeah.  We have a lower infection rate, and mortality rate than Colorado, despite a relatively aged population.   

Credit where it’s due though.  In Colorado, the marijuana dispensaries remain open.  So you’ve got that goin’ for you.

• They estimated 45% of infected in the study were asymptomatic. They surveyed it multiple times and confirmed that no symptoms came about during the course of the infection. Between the 14 day window of the first and 2nd survey most had cleared the infection.
• They found no incidence of viral load meaning worse outcomes.
• Asymptomatic were just as infectious as those with symptoms.
• A lot of elderly were asymptomatic as well.
• 234 children aged 0-10 were tested and none were positive while 13 lived in infected homes.
• Older aged infected patients took on average longer to clear the virus than younger patients.
• Estimated r0 between 3-4 with a 80-90% drop once lockdowns were instituted.
• The IFR of this study had a range of 0.2-0.6.

While the DHS describes the results as preliminary, they may eventually make their way into specific recommendations. “Outdoor daytime environments are lower risk for transmission,” the briefing states.  -  Sounds to me like there's reason to open golf courses in WA state.

At one time I did some programming in Cobol.   I haven't done any coding in years but wouldn't be interested even if my knowledge was current.

Up until this blood test, it was a very invasive nasal swab, one that felt like they were tickling your brain.    Hopefully this simple blood test is accurate and readily available.

Testing for different things. The swabs are used to test for the genetic material of the virus itself. The blood test is used to test for antibodies made by the person as a reaction to the virus, which takes time for the body to produce.

Providing data on seroprevalence

Identifying potentially immune healthcare workers who can be redeployed to front-line work

Testing of convalescent plasma for antibodies used in clinical trial treatments for COVID-19.

It is important for clinical laboratories to understand and communicate to providers that COVID-19 serology tests are currently not recommended as an acute diagnostic and should not replace RT-PCR on upper respiratory specimens for diagnosis. The timing and degree of immune response to COVID-19 is not yet fully understood, and serology tests will be negative prior to development of antibodies which can take several days after infection with the virus.
