I’m leaning toward mixed tees.

1, 6, 8 on the front white. On the back 10, 15, 16, 18.

I like this. Even though I don't know the place, shortening up the longer par fours would be much appreciated, and fun idea to make 16 even more in range for the longer players, could make for interesting skins action.

I know. Play along a bit longer though man!

If only I had those speedsticks that I've had my eyes on. Probably gonna snag those up after this trip.

I’m not playing at a 5. I’d feel a lot more comfortable at, say, a 15.

This is pretty accurate. Whispering probably is the leader in courses I’ve played where, when calculating my score, I think “how the hell did I put up such a high number?”

In the same week, I shot like 102 and 82 at WW, so there’s that. It you’re hitting the ball poorly it punishes you, but if you keep the ball in play, there are scoring opportunities.

It is not hard; yet, you can put up big numbers in a hurry if you are playing sloppy.

Ah, it's so simple. All I have to do is only hit good shots.

Conservative play at WW is often the best approach to scoring. But can be a bit more boring.

We got quota and skins... no conservative play allowed. 😉

Quota rewards a steady game. And you don’t play for skins; they just happen.

I suspect @saevel25 was trying to goat the rest of us into blowing up...  Which I totally respect by the way....

Staying at the Hilton Gardens in downtown Erie. Coming up on Friday night, but may make a pitstop in Cleveland for dinner with a friend on the way. Definitely willing to carpool to NY on Saturday if anyone is close by.

Athenaeum Hotel in Chautauqua. I don't really need a hotel from where I am located, but my wife likes that sort of thing. She is driving back Sunday morning.

$20 on Sunday ($45 for greens fee/cart if you're not a member of WW):

  • $5 toward Net Skins pot
  • $5 toward Gross Skins pot
  • $10 toward Quota Game pot

The quota game will be a pretty standard quota game. I'm not sure if I'll do a percentage of handicaps or what…

  • Bogey = 1 point
  • Par = 2 points
  • Birdie = 4 points
  • Eagle = 8 points
  • Albatross = 12 points

To make payouts easier, please bring four $5 bills or at least a $10 and two $5s.

    • Day 66: Played 18! Wasn't really keeping track of score, but guessing in the low 80s. Driving okay, iron play up and down, lagging putting really bad. Overall, it was good to get out and play.
    • Day 41 - 2026-01-30 More backswing and grip work on the mat / net. Also some mirror time focused on trail weight.
    • Day 12 (30 Jan 26) -  Had hoped the men’s group would be playing, but the cold temps and delayed opening kept them at bay. Spent some time on the range working on loading the trail foot on the backswing (focusing on loading the inner portion of the foot and collapsing the knee slightly toward the ball). Learned too much really brought on a left pull.  Easing back a bit, really helped compressing the ball and overall accuracy.  Took it to the course for a practice round, focusing on this small change.  Saw better dispersion across the bag….guess this will be part of the mirror work drills as snowpacolypse 2 hits eastern NC.
    • I’d go with the Titleist if you liked the look of the blades but were suffering with distance. They should be a little more forgiving than a full blade and still retain some workability. Also remember to consider the shafts each have as this will be a big contributor to how they feel. Clemsonfan is right though… get fit or spend a bit of time on a launch monitor 🤙
    • Day 28: 2026.01.30 Managed to make time for a few swings out back today. Need a proper bit of range time this weekend.
