Dude?!?!?!

What are you doing? Don't mock the weather gods like that. They may be listening. It might not be over yet.

But, you're right. Last year it snowed in May, YEAH, FREAKING MAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Agree. Courses didn't open until Mid April last year. Some are starting today around here!

I was also able to get in a lot of practice outdoors compared to last year.

I envy you!! Here it's at least another month before we can hit the course!!

Around here the munis and semi-privates are open all year, unless there's snow or a heavy rain event that closes the course. As soon as the snow melts or the course dries, they open back up. We couldn't this year, but most years we can play year round with maybe a week or two break here and there. Winter golf is a whole different game. I love the imagination it requires.

Disappointing weekend. Colder than expected Saturday. Windy too. Didn't even bother with today. Fine with the break though, practicing through the winter and felt a little bit like a grind, the getting to the practice facilities part, not the practice part.

We had a round of snow here on Friday. Fortunately, I was in Tucson during the week, so I played once then. Even with the snow, though, things are turning green. Weather looks good through next weekend. My first tournament is in 4 weeks. I can finally taste it...

Why you're taking pot-shots at when I'm able to get out and play is beyond me.  I wouldn't expect such pettiness from a long-time forum member...but you do you, bud.  Hit 'em straight.

Come on guy, I'm just teasing! It's still March for crying out loud. There's a whole lot of warmer weather coming. I understand getting the itch, and I put myself through that misery for years. Then someone built a golf dome in the area. If it hadn't gotten knocked flat as a pancake last Winter I'd be there twice a week hitting balls! But they haven't rebuilt, so there's nowhere to go now.

Agree. I did not expect that much snow that day either. It is New England and not Ohio. Our weather is a bit more unpredictable.

HUH? I used to sell fine wine for a living and one day was working with the sales manager for a California winery. She asked me if we had a "rainy season". I told here that we did. It's called the calendar year! We just had twp days of rain and woke up to snow on the ground this morning!

Yes, some courses have opened up, and closed right back down. The weather is too chancy this time of year. It's supposed to be near 60 and sunny on Wednesday, and if my buddy calls wanting to get a round in in the afternoon you know what I'm going to tell him? I'm going to say no! I don't care where you go, it's going to be a swamp!

God knows I hit the ball short enough these days, and not getting any roll is tough. Plus, searching for plugged balls is not my idea of fun.

Yeah.  It sucked having snowed on Friday as I had to cancel my Saturday morning tee time.  All the course were closed on the front range.

But some opened up today.  Unfortunately, I had to work.

I got to play about 5-6 times this winter in Philly but the weather was generally a hindrance. I think last week that we got the most days in a row without rain (or snow) in a year. On Saturday, i actually got a little roll in the fairways for the first time since the fall and hopefully course will be hard and fast soon. Ahhh spring . . .

I was able to play once last week but we got about 2" of snow Saturday night and the temperatures dropped significantly.   We have a tee time for Wednesday...maybe....;-)

The weather is getting better and the handicapping season officially opened today. I tried to book a tee time for next weekend and the system is down because they changed it over the winter and everything is messed up

I called one of the pro shops and the guy said try again in a few days. If it's still not working by then I'll just show up before sunrise like I usually do and walk on. That's never usually a problem for me.

April: f*** this. Every time I want to play, there's some storm that makes it impossible. My swing is willing. Courses are open and in solid shape, with some winter kill here and there. Assuming you can get out when there's not a storm coming through. I stare out my window at work longingly when it's sunny and 70 out, knowing that the weather on the weekend will bring snow. Postings in the winter depression thread skyrocket. My wife is searching amazon for straightjackets, and I noticed a contractor coming by with some padded wall samples.

Been beautiful for over a week here. Today, we're expected to get a blizzard with 4+ inches of snow. I have Friday off, but looks like I won't be playing because of snow! I hate April.

Well it was near 80's yesterday and today, it is only in the low 40's at most.  It's been raining / drizzling all day.  It is suppose to turn in to snow - thanks to a bomb cyclone (when did this become a common word???).

Looks like no golf until next wee at least.  Ugh!  Time to stay home on the weekend and watch the Masters.

Well by now most, if not all of you cold, winter living  folks have immerged from your golf hibernation.

I'd like wish you all a speedy restart, and tune up for your golf games.

May you all be playing in 70*F to 90*F temps soon. 👍

    • 26 Nov 24 -  It was not a record breaking round by any means, but rather a simple walking of the back nine today playing TBWB (two ball-worse ball) where the challenge is to play the worse of the two shots played - could be an errant drive from the woods, a tree knocked ball that is 100 yds farther back down the fairway, a nGIR ball as opposed to a GIR….the goal today was to stay no worse than bogie thru nine.  Managed to achieve that goal - bogied 7 holes with one dbl and one par to counter the dbl.  It’s about staying focused and not letting a bad shot or lie derail, but rather be an opportunity.
    • Day 208 (26 Nov 24)- Opted to walk 9 today (was the back nine as they had a huge group going off the front) but instead of it being persimmons and blades, I had the regular gamers but made it a TBWB (two ball-worst ball) round.  This really challenges on several fronts - ball striking to be as consistent as possible, course management from non-optimal lies and keeping your head in it as it can be depressing to nail a shot on line-on target and the second rattles the trees right and it’s over 50 yards back and that’s the one you have to play.  The goal was to be no worse than bogie overall (+9).  Finished the round exactly on the number with some solid recoveries, no penalty strokes and only one 3-putt.
