I love Golf, and I'm not going to be here. 1st impressions are all I need. And my 1st Impression of this site isn't favorable. The feeling's probably mutual. THP also has an owner that can't manage to refrain from being a dickhead. No thanks. There, nor here.

What an incredibly dumb thing to say @JerseyBoy-What did anyone do here? The only dickhead is you.-If you keep going from site to site and everyone is a jerk the thing in common is you.

People here disagreed with you -Almost all of them. Does not make them dickheads.

BTW I am not being a dickhead in disagreeing with you too. T2 T5 12th and already 88th in the OWGR. Yeah but because YOU think he is forcing it your opinion is the only one that matters? Puh-lease.

Thank you @RussUK for some actual insight into this situation.

A bunch of guys in my league got into a discussion about Tiger's comeback this morning. Some surprising (to me) and I think valid points were brought up. Here are a few.  Tigers health has been good since December, and he had some good tournaments on the West Coast. The Masters, despite his final round was a big disappointment. Even with the shaft change in the driver, he basically was grinding to make the cut and never a factor. He's in his forties, so it isn't like he has a huge window to get his game back to where it was. Most players his age are married, his life on Tour has to be kind of lonely, nobody could imagine a tour wife wanting her husband hanging with Tiger socially. A reasonable point to assess Tiger would be when the British Open is over, he'll have over 6 months out there, played just about everywhere he wanted. We should know by then how he stacks up against this crop of players. Will he be okay with just having a chance to contend, rarely if ever winning? Surprisingly to me almost everyone thought he would, as long as he stayed healthy. Another surprise, and something I would never be able to see myself, a few felt he changed his swing during the Masters, reverting back to what he was doing with Foley.

That swing change may not have been intentional. could have been backsliding.

The idea of a player's personal circumstance impacting their play, particularly their dating lives, has always fascinated me.

As for Tiger, his winning seems to correlate with stability in his personal life.

Allow me to propose a thesis: Tiger Woods needs a stable home life to win golf tournaments.

1996 - 2001 (29 victories, 6 majors) - Woods' Dad is the focal point of his life

2002 - 2009 (42 victories, 8 majors) - Woods is dating and married to Elin

2010 - 2011 (0 victories) - Single

March 2012 (1 victory) - Single (Woods meets Lindsey Vonn in April 2012)

2012 - 2013 (7 victories) - Woods dates Lindsey Vonn

Since meeting Elin, Tiger has had a single victory while single (heh).

Can Tiger win while single?

Should we keep a close eye on his dating life to predict when he will win next?

Or will this be the part of the story where he overcomes his personal demons and does it alone?

Looks like he did confirm Wells Fargo Championship and the Players.

Looking forward to watching both of these tournaments.  Hopefully, we can see him making a serious run at contending.

He probably has the spec sheets for each iron so he just hands it to the club companies and says, "Make this!"

Given the fact those irons do not exist on Taylormade's website tells me that they are custom made.

Here is the closest thing Taylormad has to blade irons,

    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
