If my friend ever sent me 50 pictures of their vacation I'd tell them where they can put those pictures after I print them out on extra heavy stock paper. I don't know anyone that sends that many pictures to others.

This is why they have "FaceBook" accounts, and post 100s of pictures per vacation.

Comcast sent my parents a new modem a week ago. After installing it, I tested the speed while standing right next to the router (an Apple Time Capsule). Coincidentally, I had tested it from downstairs (two floors away from the router) the day before with the old router. Here's the fastest I've ever gotten. March of 2013 so I was probably in my college dorm. Go around the world, in Europe and Asia, Africa, comparatively, our residential broadband speeds are pretty bad. Most of the world pay less and get faster speeds than we do.Thanks AT&T;, Verizon, etc...

Yep, cable and internet companies are basically monopolies. Not to mention being the wealthiest nation in the world, of course stuff is going to cost more, we can afford it.

I don't know anything about the "Ping" but mine seems to be miles off of the others. (???)

I do know that our internet sucks compared to what my friends and family with cable have.

This is from my family home in Mass.. I can't wait to post my numbers from my house in KSA..  I'm sure it will not come anywhere close to this.. *this is like lightning speed.. faster than 89% of USA.. They have it good..

I have almost the same numbers from just north of Boston except ping = 31.

Here are the results for my internet at home. I've got the basic package for Verizon FIOS, 25 megabit up and down. With a fiber connection, I could upgrade all the way up to 300 mbs, but don't really feel the need. Going to 50 mbs would only cost me 10 more bucks a month, but I'm OK with my current plan.

Goes up and down, this would be a little on the low side for "Download". "Upload" is about this speed.

This is with me and my son listening to youtube music videos.

They just fixed our service, if we hadn't complained we would still be living with 9-13Mb/s "Download".

My neighbor just bought the 300Mb/s service. Crazy.

Old people use AOL. Getting them online was a stretch and fear of change keeps them using crappy AOL. Speaking of crappy.... I had to put mine in Kbps to make myself feel better...

I remember trying AOL, stayed as long as I did for the forums. I already was signed up to an independent host when I signed up for AOL. Kept AOL for about a year and stayed with the independent till DSL/cable became available. Remember when a 9600 baud modem was all the rage.

Finally got my macbook working.  here's my home internet, on wifi, about 20 feet from the router.

My phone over wifi from the same spot got 35/35
