Interesting.  The only "purposes" that have gotten mocked and made fun of here are the ones involving God.

Sounds like there are a lot of "purposes" that do not include being tolerant of others' beliefs.

The only post to get any response at all was @Abu3baid 's and it got 10 negative responses of varying degrees of negativity, with one supportive.  No one else's state purpose was commented on at all by anyone else to any degree.  Yet almost one-third of the posts in this thread mock, to one degree or another, his answer.

Like I said, interesting.

I found that interesting as well. . .

So, I just posted "Golf with purpose?", as the OP didn't seem to have any purpose in life. ;-)

I feel like my post could be construed as mocking religion.  If anyone felt that it was, I didn't mean it to be.  I just think it's a funny scene and relevant to the topic.

Golf is the closest thing to religion to me.  Yeah, I am an atheist but didn't feel an urge to reply to @Abu3baid each his own.

God is one of those things that doesn't seem to get much tolerance these days.  I'm agnostic but do find it a bit sad that we're all supposed to tolerate each persons "unique" qualities and beliefs as long as it doesn't involve religion or God.

I'm trying to understand the point of this post. Seems like a backhanded way to stir up trouble.

Jest does not equate intolerance, but I'd have to be a fool if I thought some beliefs weren't directly at odds with others.

It's not a backhanded way to start anything, at least not from my point of view. ;-)

However, I think he was simply making an observation.

Fair enough. It just seemed unnecessary.

Interesting ... your post.

Another post ....

To know God ... seriously?

In what way?

If you believe you can approach God through love... and our purpose is to love, I can see that. But the word "God" is used in so many way to profit, manipulate, shame, shun, kill, and gain power, perhaps stripping it down to love is more appropriate. Don't know.

How about if our purpose is to be aware, to strip away our crap and seek reality... knowing we will not approach it..

I think it's actually quite a valid point, shows how lopsided the commentary is, and always is for that matter.

I think it's actually quite a valid point, shows how lopsided the commentary is, and always is for that matter.

All it demonstrates is the demographic of the people who are currently active, read @Abu3baid 's comment, and then chose to post. So ultimately, not a whole lot.

Just because somebody made light of somebody else's beliefs doesn't mean they're not tolerant of them, and to imply that seemed inflammatory to me.

A religious belief is typically held pretty high by the believer. If someone makes light of it, this can be very offensive.

But should they take offense?

Does it matter what others say to a believer?

If they were a true believer, you'd think they would not care because it would not matter.

Everyone has their own path.

And I wold not assume that other posters were making light of the beliefs, but surprised at the post.

I fail to see how that implies intolerance.

If the comment made light of women, the LGBT community or minorities would we assume it was just light joking or intolerance?   As I said, I'm agnostic, but there definitely seems to be a lack of tolerance towards those that have and voice their religious beliefs.  Seems those of faith should be given the same consideration that we expect to be provided to the groups I mentioned earlier in my post.

    • Why wouldn't it have? It's not like you were playing it as a 145yd par 5 and made a 2 or something.  Or not like it was playing 50yds to a temporary green or something either.

    • I know you guys were discussing this like a year ago. But, ironically I just had this discussion with my brother-in-law. We literally just did one of these. I'd always used the "Slow-Cook, Rest, and Sear" Method. But my bother-in-law was convinced the "5-Min/lb, 500 degree" method was the way. So, we gave it a go. I have to say it came out great.  I have a 25 year old, electric oven, GE brand... Not sure if that matters, but it came out great. ... Of course we stressed that nobody was to open the oven.   I don't make these all that often so, I'm not sure if I can fully recommend one method or the other, because without doing a Pepsi Challenge, I'd say both ways come out great. 👍😁👍
