This questions always baffles me, as I work at a golf course, what time do you prefer to play? It seems that people are always playing mid-afternoon when the rates are the highest and out mornings seem to always be the quietest, but there are days where it is flipped. I prefer playing the in the morning mainly because the rounds are faster and its cooler. Just wanted to see everyone's preferred time because I feel like people would prefer mornings, but they seemingly don't.

I like 9:30 - 10:30, allows me to miss morning and afternoon rush hours, while having enough time to change and warm up at the range before teeing off.

I love the game, no matter what time of day it is.

....but I'm now married and prefer to get out as early as possible so I can enjoy the afternoon with my wife and catch football games in the fall.

I will play anytime. However most of my rounds are in the afternoons. Less busy during that time. Most go for early tee times to beat the heat.

Early morning would be my preferred time.

More importantly though would be whenever the course is slow.

Depends on the course, but I'll generally (as a single) go late morning. that way, I am behind the early bird crowds and before the afternoon discount crowd. There's always somebody around to hook up with, though.

When I go to Florida in March, I prefer a bit later in the morning- the double tee system doesn't make it easy if you go at 9am. Both sides are full and there isn't an opening until some of those first few groups are finished.

I've never been a happy Dawn golfer- usually just can't get myself going that early. I've done it, just prefer not to.

Afternoons, I prefer to get things done in the morning and not have anything to do after golf but rest, also it allows me to play extra holes if possible and not worry about stuff I need to do.

This is entirely backwards of everything I've ever seen.  First off ... your "mid-afternoon" rates are your highest???  That's a first for me, but must have to do with your weather, I assume.  Out here, most expensive is always earliest, and if prices change then they go down throughout the day.  Usually a morning rate, then afternoon, then "twilight."

And mornings are always busier as well.  Although most decent courses are steadily busy from opening until the time of day where you are gambling that you won't finish 18.  Right now that is from 7am or so (depending on course) until about 1:30pm.

I have no preference ... I don't get to play as often as I'd like (not even close) so I happily take it when I can get it.  Sometimes its sun-up, sometimes weekday afternoons, and sometimes on the weekends.

Whatever time has the course least crowded.

(around here, the late fall at mid-morning is the sweet spot.  virtually seems empty on the courses, it's nice and cool, etc etc etc)

I love a good 7:30 to 8:00 round during the summer.  While the dew is still on the grass and its not 90 degrees.

I usually tee off between 8:30 and 9, and that's about right.  We have a half-hour drive to the course, so playing much earlier means getting moving really early.

As others have said, the best time is when the course is not filled.  In SE Michigan that usually is the afternoon on weekends.   Weekdays after the initial "rush" to get out early there is a prolonged period that is nice to go out until the leagues start arriving around 3:30 or 4:00.

I love an 11 am tee time. After morning rush, play in midday sun, and can finish before dark any time of year.

When I play with the boys, they like to tee off anytime after 7am and not much later than 9am so as not so shoot an entire Saturday playing golf.  Works for me.

OTOH, my wife delivers mail for a living which means Sundays are her only sleep-in days.  I'll schedule golf for us as a couple after 1pm.  Sleep in, have a nice breakfast, lay around awhile then hit the golf course 1-2pm for an afternoon 18.  Afterwards, we usually hit a nice restaurant for an outdoor meal if its not too hot.

I prefer the first tee time or as earliest as possible.  It's faster, cooler, and that morning sun does a wonders.  Plus I have the whole for work.

I usually play on sunday. 9:30 am to 11 am is rush hour. I like to start before that or after that if it is not too packed. Most of the time we end up at 9 am.
