Multiple practice swings per shot are on top of my list. I'm 63 and figure I have a finite number of swing left..I don't want to waste them !

And I like to quote Caddyshack and the Godfather

Not many of those listed bother me. I actually use (#23) a poker chip sometimes. I also like #10 when others do it, due to it's entertainment value.

It's golf. When you play, you take  the good with the bad. If you let other things bother you,  then you are being manipulated, and are not playing your normal game.

Not playing ready golf is the one that really irks me, no matter the reason. At times I have had playing partners use a phone GPS that loads slowly, that really bothered me.

Excessive practice swings is second for me. Just hit that damn ball, three perfect practice swings and you're still going to top it.

Finally, playing from the tips. I got paired with a guy at a very high-end course this weekend that played 7,400 yards. The guy proceeded to barely reach the fairway with his first tee shot, I knew it was going to be a long day, and it was.

11. under rated should be 2 or 3
20. should be higher (and anyone doing it kicked off the course - unless you are a surgeon)

2. no way this should be on the list - any and all lines from Caddyshack and Tin Cup are acceptable (Smalls your killing me with this list)

Missing from the list:
- looking for lost balls forever, especially when obviously lost
- showing up late, or just in time to tee off
- not having a ball marker/tee at all and having to borrow one
- delaying play to record everything in your app for every shot 9get game golf

Caddyshack lines are acceptable, so long as you stick with Chevy Chase lines only.  No one wants to hear your Bill Murray/Rodney Dangerfield impressions.    Thank you.

#3 unsolicited advice, that only causes doubt and confusion - not cool. That's why I pay an instructor.

There are a couple of guys at my home club I avoid like poison. One of them screwed me up for weeks. If I see them on the first tee I will go practice more chips & putts until they're well along.

The unsolicited advice thing is funny because I just had someone do that to me during my last round.  In fact, I've had that happen so rarely I forgot people even do it but man was it irritating.  Anyway, I caught up to a twosome on 18 and they asked me to play in with them.

18 is a par 5.  My drive was excellent, I pushed my second shot into some trees trying to be aggressive, wasted the third shot getting out of the trees, and 4th shot was just short of the green...  I was tired and hungry and wanted to go home and relax so I figured I'd putt from the fringe and 1 putt for a bogey and get out of there.  Hit too strong of a putt and rolled several feet past the hole so now I was looking at a likely double bogey.  2-putted for the double bogey and then one of the guys in the twosome starts lecturing me on how I'm flicking my wrists when I putt.. which I know I do NOT do.  I was putting uphill over 2 feet of fringe and simply misjudged how hard to hit the ball.  Anyway I tried to be nice and humor the guy but the whole time I'm thinking "Man, those guys weren't joking when they say how annoying this is..."  haha

I love the one about using a rangefinder around the green. A few months back I was watching the women's NCGA event on TV, and actually saw that done. The player in question missed the green pin high to the left, and couldn't have been more than 40 feet or so from the hole. After using the rangefinder, and then twice walking up to the hole and back, she promptly hit the chip thin and ran it 30 feet by.

Once watching Tom Kite play forget when/where, he asked his caddy for a yardage ~30 yards away. He wanted to know how many feet as well. Caddy was like I got 30 yards. He was like, and how many feet? Eyeroll.

Kill slow play. Allow walking. Reduce ineffective golf instruction. Use environmentally friendly course maintenance.

Played behind 4 guys yesterday that were probably 25+ handicappers who hit the ball shorter than I do that decided to play from the black tees (tips).  It was painful, watching them take 4 - 5 practice swings that had zero resemblance to their actual swing and then shank, fat or skull the ball.  One guy took 3 - 4 practice swings that took out a huge divot from the fairway each time.  Finally after seeing his grass pelts all over the course and huge unfilled gouges in the fairway I drove up and told him I don't care if he takes practice swings but at least replace the divots or fill them in the rest of us following behind don't have to.

Looking for lost balls should be close to the top of the list.  I don't mind a few minutes to find a playable ball, but to watch players hiking up slopes and down into gullies to find their lost Pro V1 is sometimes beyond irritating for those who are waiting for the search party to finally give up the ghost.  If you can't keep it close to the fairway, don't play a $5 ball.

I play inexpensive balls (Top Flite D2 Feel) and for me it is just not worth the effort to traipse all over creation looking for my unplayable lie.  I just take a drop and get on with life.

I agree, the other problem is they don't hit a provisional when there's a good chance they won't find their ball.  They hit their drive, watch it go into the trees where there is tall grass and brush and think they will have no problem finding it.  By the time they are convinced it's lost there are people waiting to tee off and then they just want to take a favorable drop to maintain pace.

I like to walk and rarely use a cart.  My #1 pet peeve when playing with others that walk is golfers walking backwards (via course progression) to get their pull carts or bags.  Bring those carts/bags with you, put them to the right as you play the ball, then take them along to the green.  Once at the green, walk them to half of the green and set them closer to the departure point heading to the next tee box.

One other is a saying I teach my girls.  "First in tends the pin."  (Pulled pin laying on the green.)  If a foursome would do that and have the pin ready to be replaced and the foursome able to leave the green quickly, it makes for a smoother, faster round of golf.

Coach (me) to player, "Hey, what percentage of putts left short never go in?"  Player, "Coach, 100% of putts left short never go in."  Coach (me), "Exactly."  Player, "Coach what percentage of putts that go long never go in."  LOL!

The ball marker thing is silly to get upset about. I use a large $1 coin to mark my ball so that I can clearly see where it is from behind the hole without having to glance around the green (only an issue on long putts). A quarter, dime, or nickel is still going to knock your putt offline if your putt rolls over it, so they'd have to move the quarter the same that they'd have to move the poker chip.

That said I personally am not a fan of actual poker chips as markers (specifically because they're almost always plastered with big logos), but I definitely prefer the larger markers. The favorite that I saw was someone with a flat white dimpled disk that resembled a golf ball (I think it was one of those "FlatBall" training aids) that he placed behind his ball. It was big and visible without gaudily displaying some big name course/casino/other brand on the marker like most poker chips do.

Spending way too much time looking for your ball.  If are spending that much time looking, buy cheaper balls and give up after a couple of minutes.

Being a Marshal or calling a Marshal for slow play when the pace is perfectly fine.  People rarely realize how long you have to wait for the group in front of you.  If you are really that fast, you should play through.

Not picking up your ball when you have exceeded a reasonable number of strokes.
