2017 Phoenix Open (Waste Management)

Bubba will apparently be playing with a lime green golf ball.

And this is the home of the 16th hole… one of the rowdiest spots on earth.

 

I still think they should leave the stands up year-round. When they're not there, the hole is boring as ****.

Gonna pick Bubba and his lime green ball for my fantasy team and see what happens.  That is a cool time lapse.  I'm still not sure whether I like the rowdiness aspect, but it sure is unique and gets a lot of attention.  Heck, I'd like to go see it one time and there is no chance I would pick that tournament out of all the other good tourneys except for that reason, that it's more of a fun/party type atmosphere and experience.  I was able to go to the ryder cup in Chicago and that was cool, but this would be fun in a different kind of way.

Been there several times. I think it now resembles a "snake pit" enclosed with stadium seating.
When players are teeing off, it's a dull silence which sounds similar to the sound of a rattlesnake just before it will strike (the rattlers)
Then a loud roar erupts just like the quickness of a snake strike.

I like the 16th in this tournament, but I'm glad this is the only tournament that has this. It is a novelty and should remain that way.

One of these years, I'll get out to Phoenix to see this event.  I keep saying that, but then again, there are years I miss the L.A. Open, so who knows?

Reminds me of the lifeguard at the Olympic swimming events.  Doing their job, no matter how pointless.

I was never a fan of his during his prime but I like having Duval in the booth. He's got as good of perspective as anyone in the game- he has seen the highest and lowest of the game- and he continues to improve as a commentator IMO.

So I guess that Hideki likes this course, eh?  This is his fourth time playing here on he won last year, finished 2nd in 2015, and finished T4 in 2014.

He's T3 right now, 4 strokes off the lead.  Also, if he shoots 69 tomorrow he'll finish -14 ... for the 4th straight year.

I'm going to throw out a radical idea that may make heads explode. Ka-boom! 

Make the Phoenix Open the fifth major. Right time of year, maybe a week after the Super Bowl. It's not like any of the others. It's the People's Championship and a true test of nerves.
