Double hole outs from the same bunker on 18 for Rory and Morikawa. That is giving the crowd some entertainment.

Great performance!!  Rory put on a show for the final round with a hell of a finish on 18, and Morikawa following suit.

Friday was brutal.  We had tickets and weather was not very good. I'm amazed how much different the course looked from the last time we in 2017. I will say this, that golf course is tough. From the tournament tees....wow.

Really enjoyed Sunday.  Scottie starting weak and recovering when Cam looked like he'd run hot.  Rory's ENTIRE FREAKING ROUND and with Colin with the paired eagles and the paired sand holeouts.  Scottie's nerves trying to putt out on 18 brought a ton of 'real' to the tournament - these amazing players are very human.  Tiger finishing up a cool comeback with smiles, but also plenty early enough in the day for us to enjoy rest of the show.  Tiger limping and the obvious pain in his gait and stance was another 'reality' of poignant moments.

It was a very riveting broadcast.  .....

YMMV

(bonus - I think the "Golf Shot" and the "of the ball" commentary was a lot less than typical, even with Nick on the mic.  So I got that going for me)

@iacas I said I would come back and eat crow if I was wrong, and I'm a man of my word so here I am. Good for Tiger - despite a few loose shots, his overall game was sharper than I expected.

Physically, I was expecting the slide that we saw over the weekend to take hold on Friday. I think my instincts about his comeback chances were correct, but his body held up one day longer than I anticipated. Hopefully he can build off this and continue to contend in majors for years to come.

Just not sure he's going to have enough tournament rounds moving forward to play the type of sharp game required at this level. Really hard to do. He had a more limited schedule than others in the past, but he was still playing 10-15 events per year. His new situation will be 4-5 events per year. That is tough as hell if you are hoping to somehow win events.

Tyrrell Hatton sounds off against Augusta National, saying it was an unfair test.

Quote

"If you hit a good shot, you should end up near the hole. Not then short-sided into a bunker because of the slopes that they've created and stuff. Yeah, I don't think it's a fair test at times, and when you hit good shots and you're not rewarded for it, it shows."

I think first we have to define good shot. Scenario one, you hit the ball onto a known area of the green that severely slopes away from the hole into a bunker. Versus, you hit the ball 10-FT further away to a nice landing area and have a good shot at birdie.

I think he is complaining that he couldn't flag hunt all day, and when he did he was penalized.

To me, I love courses like Augusta National. Ones were you have to think about how much risk you must take to go after the flag. Not in the way a flag is tucked behind a bunker or water, but how the green contours.

Quote

"I think it's how the course is set up in general," Hatton continued. "You don't really have to miss a shot, and your next one you'll have -- you're really struggling to make par. With how it runs off the greens here and the slopes that you are then chipping into and how obviously it's cut, it just makes it really hard to even get chip shots close. I think everything is exaggerated here."

Yep, but you see Rory and others get up and down pretty well through out the week. Maybe work on your short game?

Yes, when all these greens are elevated, and the front of the greens are protected, short game shots are a bit more tricky. Get better.

I think he needs to revaluate how he plays golf at Augusta. His good shots, might be good shots in terms of ball strike, but they might not be good decisions.

Good point.  I think he wanted his well-struck shots on other courses that end up within 10 feet to do the same thing at Augusta National.

    • I know you guys were discussing this like a year ago. But, ironically I just had this discussion with my brother-in-law. We literally just did one of these. I'd always used the "Slow-Cook, Rest, and Sear" Method. But my bother-in-law was convinced the "5-Min/lb, 500 degree" method was the way. So, we gave it a go. I have to say it came out great.  I have a 25 year old, electric oven, GE brand... Not sure if that matters, but it came out great. ... Of course we stressed that nobody was to open the oven.   I don't make these all that often so, I'm not sure if I can fully recommend one method or the other, because without doing a Pepsi Challenge, I'd say both ways come out great. 👍😁👍
