Some good golf being played this afternoon . Hovland looks like he could be next world number one. Cantlay v Rose is a real humdinger.

So much TV time , so few golf shots shown. Absolutely shite coverage. Too many adverts, focus on the action please.

But then how will these struggling networks make any money? 😉

But seriously though, despite the poor coverage and everyone complaining about it all over social media, people are still watching. It seems like the network is winning this one.

At least there was more excitement. USA gave it a run in singles. But with Ricky down 2 with 2 to play, that seals it for Euro.

I’m glad the US made this somewhat interesting, but there wasn’t really a point where they had a chance:

I’m shocked Rickie gave that putt. I would have made him tap in a 2 inch putt. Who knows, maybe he would break a rule somehow.

They made it a little bit interesting, but never got truly close with Europe only needing half a point from five matches. Statistics of course always pointed towards Europe with that lead, but USA had a chance today. What statistics doesn’t truly capture is momentum and psychology when things are moving the wrong way. I think McIntyre is happy it didn’t have to come down to him.

OK, well that's over. Nothing really surprising. So now we have a week of analyzing the matches and highlights and what if's and so forth. Europe won. Bring on the silly season. Oh, the "tip the non-existing cap" thing got old really quick. They hoisted a gigantic flag of Seve.

Sort of agree. Ever since Kiawah the noise of the crowd has been excessively partisan. There’s almost no appreciation for good golf played by the “other “ side. It’s the same “home” advantage as other sports now. It means though that when that rare away win happens it’s going to be really deserved.

Although if you play as poorly as the US did on the Friday you don’t deserve to win much.

Disagree. 2'8" - good sportsmanship IMO.

This. I don't think it's broken at all.

Bleep sportsmanship. You need all the points. Force them to make a putt under pressure.

I guess Lacava's theatrics may have backfired a bit by giving them a fresh psychological start. The Euros were on the ropes for a minute. Not that I think the final result would have ended up being different but could have been closer.

Anyway, congrats to the Euros. I guess the theory about the fans being the 13th man for the home team may have more merit than what I was willing to concede.

Look forward to the US getting it back in 2025. Bethpage will have great fans for certain.😜

    • I’ve always loved how the old golf illustrations captured more than just the architecture of a course—they preserved the atmosphere around the game itself. One of the pieces I recently restored was this early view of the 18th green at Troon. What drew me to it wasn’t only the clubhouse or the championship history, but the quiet feeling of the scene: spectators gathering near the clubhouse, the soft coastal light, and the sense that golf at the time was as much a social tradition as a competition. Most modern golf imagery focuses on dramatic aerials or pristine photography. These older works feel different to me. They’re slower. More human. Almost documentary in character. Interestingly, this became my first recent sale—a small 5x7 framed edition—which honestly encouraged me that there are still golfers who appreciate the historical side of the game and the artistry surrounding it. I’ve been restoring and collecting more of these early golf scenes lately, especially from places like Troon, St Andrews, Hoylake, and Gleneagles. Curious if anyone else here enjoys vintage golf artwork or has favorite historic course illustrations they’ve come across over the years. https://www.theheritagelinks.com
