It is obvious that most of the bloggers here have no idea what they are talking about.  THC has a 1/2 life of over 24 hours or more depending.  It stays in your system for days and will effect you golf, I know because they same thing happens to me if I ingest THC for medical reasons the day before I golf.  It effects my lag putting and chipping the most and sense of spacial relationships on the golf course and swing timing.  Of course it depends on how much one has the night before.  The effects on golf usually wear off in a couple of days. Bottom-line: don't smoke pot or consume THC the day before you play golf if you want to play well.  Now if you just  want to feel good while you play and don't care how you score  - that is another story.

Welcome to the site-But you realize this thread is three years old right? There are a lot of newer good threads to look at.

"The expert golfer has maximum time to make minimal compensations. The poorer player has minimal time to make maximum compensations." - And no, I'm not Mac. Please do not PM me about it. I just think he is a crazy MFer and we could all use a little more crazy sometimes.

Oh really, it's a good thing THC affects everyone exactly the same. When I was a sophomore in hs at our Big 12 invitational. I got high with the guy that won the tournament 15 minutes before he teed off. He went on to play golf at Mississippi State.

Your buddy would've probably played even better without the THC. The affect may be different with younger golfers too. It is a proven fact that THC negatively effects motor skills. It may have a calming effect that masks this out but like booze it doesn't take much for the curves to cross (i.e. Positive affect to negative affect on play).

Happy 420 to all that can Partake. Me, I have to piss in a cup every 4 months

Pass the kouchie . . .

I partake and play golf once a year in an outing with the same three guys. The two endeavors don't necessarily mix well for me but we always have a lot of laughs that day.

Well, it's legal in CA now, so I'm guessing there will be a mix of Cigar smoke and weed. :-D

Same in MA, I'll always take a bet vs a smoker, they are so good natured when they pay off. The beer guys can be a real asses.

When I was in my 20s, and bullet proof I probably did the deed. Can't remember my scores though.

I am giving some thought to playing more rounds in California in the next few months.

Guy we played with in MB was using medical marijuana the entire time he golfed and played the best out of all of us.  He is a good golfer, but I think the drug helped keep him calm and relaxed which is a definite advantage in golf.

I would think that it inhibits being able to swing fast, though? It seems like even medical marijuana would slow you down although with less of the other effects?

You might be more "relaxed", but possibly not at peak physical performance.

I smoked in my late teens and early twenties.  Marijuana might make a round enjoyable but I don't think it would help my performance.

I like to be clear headed, I don't smoke and seldom drink.

Guess I am just an ol coot...never did it (well, I did try it once, but didn't inhale - no, Bill Clinton already used that line)...... Actually, I did try it once in Maryland at a "blue crab" party, It did nothing for me, other than made my clothes stink, and gave me a headache. I am not adverse to trying it however and see if perhaps it would calm me down, help alieviate aches and pains and so forth.  Even in my younger days, in "The Haight" what with the sugar cubes, lava lamps, I was there, but never a participant, more of an observer. The same can be said for my visits to Greenwich Village during the "beatnick" era and the backwoods areas of San Diego at a couple of communes.

What exactly do you mean by "medical marijuana" and why do you think it would be any different "non-medical marijuana"?
