If he's got time for this (below), I think he's got time to say, "ball starts where the face is aimed and curves away from the path".  Also 90% of slicers already have a leftward facing face at impact.

This exactly why I don't watch his nonsense......

If the face is left, the ball will start left.  If he's got time for this (below), I think he's got time to say, "ball starts where the face is aimed and curves away from the path".  Also 90% of slicers already have a leftward facing face at impact.

Ok yeah that's wrong. And he was saying that for a slice you aim way left and open face way up but it will start more right than intended so aim more left he was saying.

I've been known to tune in to Martin Hall's show just to see what his lovely assistant is wearing ... sad I know...
Couple examples.  With the resources available to him there is no excuse for this.
For those of us less knowledgeable on the golf swing ... can you explain what's wrong with this example rather than just claiming there is no excuse for this ?     Breed explains what he's going to do & executes basically a snap hook as planned.     I've seen this set up explanation many times using alignment rods - I have seen a video of Justin Rose explaining how to hit a draw explained exactly the same way.    Is it not the "proper" way to move a ball right to left ?     Just seems cynical to call it incorrect when he executes what he says he's going to do ...

I wondered who this guy was!!! My god he can talk, I watched him explain how to not top a ball and he never even breathed in for 3 minutes!! I've seen a few of his segments and I would say your all correct, he makes some good points, but also talks a lot of Rubbish!...without breathing in, when I first saw him I couldn't stand him at all, but he has since grown on me but only ver slightly!.. VERY Slightly!

There is no excuse because it's 2013.  It's not like Breed doesn't have access to tools like Trackman and Flightscope, can easily do some research or consult other instructors.  He's wrong when he says "set the face where you want it to finish".  And he's not doing that below.  Face is aiming to where the ball has to start, RIGHT.  Can you hit a hook doing that?  Sure it's a draw/hook that would start well LEFT of the target.

Please read this

Here's the shot Bubba hit, the 40 yard hook.  The red circle (might even be more to the right) is where the green is.  Is he aiming the clubface at the green?

Ok so maybe he really closed the face at impact and the face is pointing towards the green.  Well if the face was aimed towards the green, then the ball would start towards the crowd and into the trees.  Really tough to tell in these pics but we know the ball came out of the gap and hooked on the green.  We know the ball starts primarily where the FACE is pointing at impact and curves away from the ball.  So Bubba's clubface had to have been aimed well LEFT of the green, not aimed at the green.

The 45 degree closed club head.

It's definitely extreme but if you're trying to hit a huge hook it's ok to have the face closed 10-15* to your body line (and the ball back) but the face sure as hell isn't aimed at the target.  Obviously for a stock draw you just aim the body at or a couple degrees right of the target (for a righty) and the face right of the target.

ah ok - I have a better understanding now, thanks.   Funny, the whole "set the clubhead where you want the ball to finish" must have been beat into old school instructors minds - you see that a lot in youtube video's that talk about working the ball.

Holly, Lauren, the blonde dating Phelps...

I cannot listen to Breed because listening to him is like reading a golf magazine ... you don't know how much is wrong or right for you.

So I ignore him.

I started watching when the GC first came on. After watching various coaches and instructors, all I got was semi confused. In the beginning outside of all the instruction stuff, it was fairly good, now it seems like with NBC is has way more commercials and is geared toward entertainment and selling stuff, at least IMHO. So, I mainly watch the tournaments.

Golf channel is all about a quick fix..or driving range tips. I used to love this channel,..it is so commercialized now...all big business

Like working on the swing,,score means nothing to me. Might just go to the range and give up playing... ( might happen)

Breed does have some beneficial ideas and his demos of how to hit a golf ball can be helpful but, I believe that his primary objective is to promote and advertise Titleist equipment.

It seems that every time he is on camera he has a piece of Titleist equipment in his hands with the Titleist name or logo facing the camera.

Holly Sonders is essentially "window dressing"  to maintain viewer ratings.

I usually learn something from watching their regular men's, women's, Euro, minor league tour event broadcasts, slow motioning swings with the PVR. Can never get tired of seeing all the different swings out there.

    • Went back and reviewed my rounds this year at my home course to fill out the spreadsheet. Realized I have made at least par on each hole but two that I have bogied. At my skill level, it gives me a new confidence that I can play each hole decently well and strong together a lower score. Great mental boost.
    • I'm at 330 I think. I have a spreadsheet with all of them in it. It helps having lived in two countries. 159 in the US and 136 in the UK. Then a handful in Europe and a few in other countries (Canada, Australia, Mexico).
    • First Birdie of the year at Links of Sandpiper in Lakeland Fl, 450ys Par 5, Pulled driver to left rough trying to cut corner, Left myself 194 in uphill, hit my 5 iron to 8 feet. Unfortunately greens were in terrible shape and it was a sliding right to left putt, hit a nasty piece of dead spot and hopped left for a missed eagle putt with a 6 inch tap in for bird.
    • Was Talking with a buddy last night and got to thinking how many different courses we have played and was a little underwhelmed at my count. I assumed I was around 100 give or take. After about an hour of racking my brain I realized Im right at or just above 60. There could be a few that I cant recall or don't have record of but overall felt like that was a decent number. 55 in Florida, 2 in Arizona, 1 in New Hampshire, 1 in Michigan, and 1 in Indiana.  Now a new goal of getting to that 100 courses. Plan is to get to 75 by end of year and have dates of courses already set to get me to 70 so 75 shouldn't be out of question.  Below is the list of courses:  State Courses AZ Phoenician AZ The Legacy FL Abbey Course at St. Leo FL Babe Zaharias FL Bardmoor FL Bent Tree FL Big Cypress Exec FL Big Cypress South FL Bloomingdale FL Bobcat Trail FL Champions Gate FL Chi Chi Rodriguez FL Clearwater Country Club FL Club Renaissance  FL Copperhead FL Countryway FL Cove Cay FL Cypress Creek FL Diamond Hill FL Falcons Fire FL Fox Hollow FL Freedom Fairways FL Greenfield Plantation FL Hawks Landing FL Heritage Harbour Bradenton FL Heritage Harbour Land o Lakes FL Heritage Isles FL Highlands Reserve FL lake Jovita North FL Lake Jovita South FL Lexington Oaks FL Links at Greenfield Plantation FL Links of Lake Bernadette FL Links of Sandpiper Lakeland FL Northdale FL Plantation Palms FL River Hills FL Rocky Point FL Rogers FL Saddlebrook- Plamer FL Saddlebrook- Saddlebrook FL Sandpiper Lakeland FL Sandpiper Suncity FL Scepter Golf Club Falcon FL Shalamar FL Seminole Lake Country Club FL Silver Dollar FL Silverado FL Streamsong Red FL Sugarmill Woods Cypress FL Sugarmill Woods Pine FL Summerfield FL Temple Terrace FL Waterlefe FL Wentworth FL Westchase FL World Woods Pine Barrons IN Rock Hollow MI Ravines NH Brookside
