Wait a minute. WHAT?! You move back to Ohio for the Winter? I think you got it backwards! A lot of people I know are heading south right now.

I know. I lost my job last month and still own my house there.

Had the poor judgement to agree to play Beavercreek Golf Club yesterday. Low 50s, soggy and a vicious wind. Indian summer looks like its over.

On 18, I thought I had a chance after one of my better drives left me 140 yards. For the first half of the ball flight my 7I looked great. Then a massive gust of wind blew and the ball just plummeted out of the sky like it got hit by an anti-aircraft missile.

That place is so damn hilly that I fell twice on the rain-soaked grass.

Initially I had a high sense of antipathy for you but now I feel sorry for you losing your job. I hope you get a better job in Ohio, and freeze your ass off there like the rest of us. :-D

We are still getting the remenants of hurricane Brian....Why call a hurricane Brian ffs? Not the most fear inducing name. We've had strong winds, torrential rain. I mean, some people even had roof tiles blown off! The hurricanes we get are probably just like a gusty day to you Americans, but on a serious note the coastal areas got a real battering. Luckily Ireland saved us from most of it.

Still windy now so cant even go to the range

I hope I find a job too. The weather in FL right now is perfect for golf, but with no money coming in...

I figured you'd be the first to revive this thread.   Our local news is saying there is a chance of snow within the next week, even if it doesn't stick.   The UP is suppose to get 3-5" of snow!

My wife is from Michigan and her whole family still lives there. She used to bug me to move there but this^^^^^ is why I never agree. We play, often in shorts, all winter long. 300+ days of beautiful blue skies and sunshine has its perks. She doesn't bug to move there anymore, she's gotten used to the weather here, she went back last winter and nearly froze to death!

I love going there in the summer though, Michigan has some great golf courses.

And ... first frost this morning.

No chance I was touching the scraper. Just sat in the car and let the defroster do it's thing.

This is what Michigan misses.   We are the perpetual cloudiness state.   The Great Lakes affect our weather more than most people understand.

We woke up to 28º and a heavy frost this morning.    Summer is over!    Hopefully our 12:06 tee time will be warmer.

I'm hoping to get out Sunday morning. Supposed to be a high of 46. Going to be chilly, but love the fall rates and the fact that I can get 18 holes with a cart for $30 on a course that is $65 in the summer!

I figured my last round on the weekend would be the last, but was hoping for a miracle. Sadly, it started snowing today in Winnipeg, so Im done. Will do work inside the house on position and feels, will hit up one of the outdoor ranges with heated stalls every few weeks. (I kinda hate hitting there, as the glare off the snow is blinding and you dont see your shots a lot of time)

It was 82 degrees here yesterday. We're supposed to get some snow flurries today. 50 degree temperature drop within 24 hours.

    • Yes, this is the 2024 model. DSG ruined what Callaway perfected for most golfers. A darn good 3 piece golf ball. Now it's a 2 piece cheap ball. To me a 2 piece ball is fine and a 3 piece budget ball is better. I prefer a slightly harder ball, something in the 65-75 compression range that will perform similar to the old Gamer. The Titleist tru-feel is pretty good. I planned on giving Maxfli straightfli a try.
    • Is that the current generation Gamer? Another old standby for a firm and inexpensive ball is Pinnacle.  There are two models, the Rush and the Soft, but I don’t know what compression they are.
    • Good advice, but according to DSG website it is a 45 compression ball. My current ball is the Top-flite Gamer at 70. 45 is too low for me to go.
    • The 3 piece Maxfli Trifli is 2 dozen for $35.  The Trifli does not feel as soft as the Maxfli Softfli, which is why I like it. Other options would be one of the Srixons, which have a buy 2 get 1 free offer.
    • I have been carrying a 7 wood more often this year.  It’s especially handy if you have a downhill lie to an uphill green.  It’s also handy if the rough on the course is deep.
