I keep the glove on from tee to green, i.e., I don't remove it between shots unless it's hot and humid and I want to air it out a bit. I don't use it for chip shots, 40 yds in, or putting but do wear it for greenside bunker shots. Also, I hang 3 gloves off the cart or my bag if walking. People always kiddingly give me shit for this but I rotate them to ensure I always have a dry one.

As much as I play/practice, and in the sunny weather that I play/practice in, most of the time, I wear a glove all the time. I do this for sun protection for my hands.

I don't use a glove when I play.... because my left hand becomes decidedly whiter than my right during the summer months, and there is a distinct line at my wrist where the glove ends. There is nothing like driving around with your hand out the window getting a "hand tan" trying to even it out. It doesn't work. I abandoned the glove mid-July.

The glove comes off for anything less than a full shot, with the exception of punch shots from the trees, when I make a gut feel decision on keeping it on or not depending on the ferocity of the shot. The glove comes off for ALL pitches, chips, and putts.

I wear a glove, but only to hit full shots. I take it off right after my full shot, I leave it off for, putting, and hitting chip shots, or shot pitch shots, so I only have my glove on, when I hit full shots, it comes off, immediately after.

I keep my glove on all round, I may take it off for a short while when really hot, which isn't often in the uk, but I got so used to wearing one it feels strange without one, I carry 3 in my bag incase it rains then I have dry ones to change into!

I wear a glove when I'm hitting a full shot, or a short shot where I feel the club might come out of my hands (sand shots, ball in rough, etc). I rarely have my glove on unless I'm hitting or about to hit. If someone is about to hit right after me and near me, I'll wait until they've hit to undo the velcro. I've found I tend to sweat a lot by my hands. I didn't really notice this before playing golf, and I really don't notice it except when I am. I usually use two gloves, and will take one and hold it somewhere that it can air out (handle of push cart, "oh my" handle on driving cart, etc).

I carry a glove with me throughout the round but it only goes on if/when I start to feel like my grip on the club is lessening (hands sweating, starting to rain, soreness because I've not played for weeks or have new grips etc).

If toward the end of the round I'm wearing the glove it'll generally be on from tee to green and then after I've pitched for the last time on that hole I'll take it off and put it in the back pocket again. It comes out again at the next tee box.

I remove my glove after every shot. Comes from playing in the heat and humidity down here, but it's such a habit, that I even do it when it's cooler, like now. I leave it off for putting or any green-side chipping/bunker shots. For everything else, it goes back on as part of my pre-shot routine.

I wear my glove for any "full" swing shot.  Anything less, it comes off.

I am not sure why I do it that way.  Maybe I think I get more "feel" for the feel type shots???

I sometimes take it off after every shot. I sometimes take it off every now and then. I sometimes take it off before chipping. I sometimes take it off before putting.

Sometimes I wear it for 3-4 holes straight before taking it off, I usually loosen it after every shot though.

I'd rather go by feel then go by a "routine".

If you never wear a glove (Fred Couples) or never take off your glove (Lexi Thompson) this is not for you.

But if you take full swings with and putt without, I'm curious at what point you take it off.

Do you do EVERYTHING except putting with a glove? Do you always take it off once you're near the green? Or, like me, are you a bit random about it? Sometimes it comes off for short pitches or chips, sometimes it stays on.

I'd like to go with something a little more structured, so I'm curious what ya'll have to say.

I have been back and forth on using it or not.  Over the last year I have gone back to using it more often than not on full shots as I prefer the way it feels.  I generally like to take it off though while walking between full shots and I never wear it for anything inside 50 yards.

I take it off once the ball hits the green.

I like the club stability that a glove offers with full swings, with as easy a grip as I can get, especially with driver, and the feel of the putter without a glove.

I take mine off after everyshot, as humid as it is here, if I don't i have to change gloves after 9 holes. I also don't wear a glove for putting or any type of chip or pitch. I like having the extra feel for those shots.

I've done about every combination possible over the years....no glove at all....glove all the time....glove only on full shots....

Now, my choice is usually weather dependent. In the hot, humid summer I'll wear it for full shots, take it off between shots, leave it off for pitching & putting. In the winter I'll usually leave it on from tee to green....and even for pitches & putts at times. When the weather is between those extremes I sometimes play without one at all, or sometimes just wear it for full shots...but never for pitching & putting.

One option I'll NEVER try again is winter golf gloves! I used to play in any kind of weather (like a cloudy day, 20 degrees, wind chill of 5) since one course here never closed even if the temporary greens were frozen. I tried the winter gloves on both hands and hated it....couldn't feel a thing!

When I first started playing golf, I did not where a glove for over 10 years.

Then one hot summer, I started to using the glove and have continued using them.

My habit is to remove the glove after every shot and I never putt with the glove on. (Except on some cold winter days)

I also rotate the use of the gloves during the summer, especially when it's hot.

I'll sometimes warm up at the range without wearing the glove until the hands become moist from perspiration.

Not wearing a glove nowadays, seems like I have to increase my grip pressure.

To me, there's nothing better than teeing it up with a New glove and a New Pro-V.

When playing an actual round, I wear the glove only with the driver or fairway wood - on par 3's, or after my drive, it comes off.

On the range, I'll typically wear the glove the whole time.

I only take the glove off for putting and for chips from near the fringe when I am using a "putting with loft" type stroke.  Otherwise the glove stays on.

But then again, what the hell do I know?

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
