It wouldn't have been a problem before the election and it wouldn't be a problem now.   Golf and politics are two separate beasts.   One I dislike and the other seems to be almost all encompassing.

Nice pics @TheScratchList!

I will never again play a Trump course. I did play Doonbeg a couple of years ago right after he bought it and before he ran for President. Really good track and fun to play, but a little pricey. The excessive branding was almost comical, with TRUMP emblazoned on every available surface. A real eye-rolling experience and after the last year I will never put another penny in his coffers.

Really. It would be great if I could find a course where people who make all of their decisions about their relationships with other people based on politics didn't go. I wish there were bars like that too! Restaurants! Cafes! I wish there were all kinds of places that intolerant people automatically banned themselves from.

Seems to me as an Aussie that Trump has not actually done much to deserve all the crap. His rhetoric though is very harshly judged and seems to upset the academic and media types and lots of people dont seem to like his persona. Having said that I would not want to play his courses if they are so blatantly commercialised with his name. On the other hand that would not stop me playing Turnberry which is on every golfers bucket list.

Excessive branding? Sounds like jealousy. Last time I was at ANY hotel they had their name on everything in the place.

You know what I am really sick of? The Golf Channel! Every twenty minutes they cross promote MSNBC and feature a 30 second spittle flecked vomit of Trump bashing from Joe and Mika of Morning Joe. I think they should call it "cross-demotion." I used to have it on always in the background as I worked. I liked looking up at the golf courses when my eyes needed a rest from the computer, and I like golf. But who needs it? I am not a big Trump supporter either, I just want to have a place where I can go where politics is not first on the menu. It's a shame. They are going to the way of ESPN without even knowing it. I am sure that the Golf Channel has no control over the stuff that their owners at NBC put on in the promotional slots, but that doesn't change anything.

I guess I don't pay enough attention to the commercials.   The Golf Channel is usually on my TV but I'm almost immune from commercials.    Maybe because I've been married for so long, I've learned to tune things out.  (don't tell the SO)

x2.  Golf is aggravating enough without adding politics.

    • Day 38 (18 Dec 25) - got out in the backyard with grandson this afternoon.  We got into a little game of pitching the ball from about 25yds to a target point just off the asphalt lane behind the backyard.  Goal - just clear it with a quick hop and stop.  Focused on using the wedge swing motion I was talking with the course pro yesterday….smooth and thru just bruising the grass.  In addition to a concentrated focus on technique, it also called for a quiet mind locked in on target point.  Rehearsed this with both the 50° and 55° wedges.
    • I listened to the Shaun Webb one about the swing coach app. Sounds like a great thing and will (hopefully) be very useful for me. I do think the hosts are underestimating where AI could be in a few years. Right now it's just regurgitating stuff that it has been told or it has scrubbed from somewhere else and a human guiding things will be quite a lot more helpful than just the AI, but it's going to keep developing and it will reach the stage where it's figuring this stuff out on its own. Time will come when it will have you do a TPI style screen and take various height/arm length/leg length etc. measurements, have you tell it some history and your time constraints and goals and what not and it will watch a video of your swing face on and DTL and it will know exactly what you need to work on.
