My best shot was a on a par 3 just under 150 yards to an elevated green. Hit a 7I to 3 feet and it just stopped on a dime. I unfortunately proceeded to push the birdie putt 😡

510yd par 5 which is NOT reachable with my distance. But it was downhill and downwind so maybe ... or at least close. I hit a really nice drive 260, but pushed it right. I had a clear shot to the green, but out of a little rough. There was a bunker on the left/front of the green with the closest edge about 230 away. As I was waiting for the group in front to get on the green playing partners asked "can you get there?" "No, but I can get even with the bunker and just short of the green." I hit the 3W dead straight, 230, 5 yards short of the green. Exactly where I wanted it.

I refuse to discuss the rest of the hole. 😞

Par 5, staked-off area about 230 on the right side, for standing water. Probably a dozen geese handing around the pool of water. I say, "watch this shot, I think I can reach those birds", tee off, and it visibly splashes down right in the middle of the gaggle of geese, and a single bird jumps up in the air and then softly lands. Laughter abounds! I hit a lot of good shots that day, but that's the only one I "called".

Par 3 197 yards. Short-rigth flag guarded by a front rigth bunker, long and narrow green. I had 188 to the ping and 180 to clear the bunker.
The wind was left to rigth helping a little, about 5 yards. I aimed a few yards left off the middle of the green and hit a 5 iron (190 yards carry) in order to hit it around 195 to easily clear the bunker, 185 with 6 iron would be perfect for flag hunting but it put the bunker into play.

Fortunatelly i miss my shot rigth and short leaving the ball 1 feet from the hole. Tap in birdie.
Don´t aim at the flag, don´t try to make birdies. Just aim at the middle of the green and sometimes you will get lucky and stick it close to the hole.

I was playing my normal bogey golf  get to number 12 straight forward par 4 430 yards out of bounds left pond and ditch right about 245 from tee box. Big trees on left side of fairway with a road and power pole with phone wire hanging on bottom from pole to pole. Remember wire!  Hit first shot ob left across road. Re tee hitting 3. Hit 3rd shot as a big pull ball takes off like a rocket skipping off the phone wiresideways and forward , Remember the wire? Anyway ball skips back to right and I end up center fairway 130 yards from flag.

Hit 4th shot to 10 feet. Make putt for a bogeys 5. Best 5 I’ve ever made

Short (160 or so) par 3 after making back to back quads to start my round (sheesh). 5-iron off the tee that made a beeline for the flag. Hit a low hanging branch and just dropped into what I can only describe as sludge. Pitched to 15 feet and sank my par putt.

Second shot on a par 5 landed in a huge bunker in front of the green. 47yds to the pin, ball was slightly submerged in sand surprisingly as I had hit a 3H to get there and figured it’d be sitting up. Anyway, took my UW and hit it to 5’! Missed the birdie putt but happy with par from that bunker.

320 yd par 4....... duffed the tee and went 90 yds.  2nd shot was on the fringe of the green having missed between 2 bunkers.  30 yd 2 putted for Par !!!  I was happy with that par after the horrible Tee off....  :-D

I've been on a roll the past week, winning 3 consecutive CPT in our game and a scramble on Sunday.

The first CTP was a good shot pin high, about 7' (150 yds)

The second CTP my shot had a high draw and hit 2" from the cup and checked up to 6"4" (145 yds)

My third CTP was a 5 wood, nice high draw pin seeker, which hit on the front and rolled up to 18" of the cup. (194 yds)

All three shots were into strong headwinds.

Second shot on a par 5 surrounded by trees. The only smart shot was slightly backward of lateral into the fairway.  Because I have not learned my lesson yet, I whip out the 7-iron and thread the needle blind instead, through several trees to end up 60 yards shy of the flag.

Two that stand out on back to back holes from yesterday:

First a Par 3, 205y, Tee and Green both elevated, deep valley between, backstop mounds around green. Hit 5w that bounced off the green and rested on one of the backstop mounds. Chipped on, two putted for bogey.

Next, Short Par 4, 310y, downhill, bunkers on both sides of the green. Was playing alone, so hit my first shot, which felt great, and felt like it went left, but lost sight of it. Hit a provisional way right. Praying to find ball number 1... I find it in the left green side bunker! Of course I hit the ball itself out of the bunker, going bunker to bunker...I did hit it on the green next, using a proper sand explosion shot, then made the 5 footer for a Par. Even with the boneheaded first bunker shot, a great hole.

Last couple games overall pretty average but had some brilliant 60deg wedge shots from places I just shouldn't have got away with saving PAR ...the best on a local course PAR-4 put my second shot 5 yards off large blocking trees to a green that also sloped away from my shot,, hole at far back of the green only several feet from edge of the green ...

pretty much committed to having a crack could have played to the very front of the green from under the side of the tree in the front and gone for a Bogie ... but stuff it wasn't breaking any records so had a go at a very open shot with full swing ...facing parallel to green ... the ball went vertical just cleared treetops and landed only feet from the hole and pretty much only moved couple inches closer to the hole ...brilliant ... could I do it again not a chance

7 iron from a fluffy lie in the rough, ball below my feet. Put it to about 20 feet from 185. Made the putt, too. The approach shot was pretty tough, and I just smoked it and did almost exactly what I wanted. That was a real good one.

This is a really tough hole, and I've never birdied it from the back tees. That was cool.

Sunday i hit two of the best shots i have hit in several years.  #12 big uphill dogleg left-  tee shot went through the fairway into the trees.  193 yard out and i hit about a 40 yard cut and it rolled right up onto the front of the green.  I can hit that shot, just not normally on purpose! 🙂    On the next hole i was under some trees 105 out and punched one that came off perfectly again, hit just short of the green and rolled all the way to the back pin about a foot and a half.  Unexpected birdie!

2 eagles, one each of the last two rounds!   What an anomaly.

1st..  Short par 5 on my home course (no I wasn't playing alone).   Cold, wet and windy.   Less than average tee shot, a weak fade to the right of the fairway.    The second shot, I hit a 4W to 24 feet and sunk the straight uphill putt.

2nd yesterday.   Par 5 on a newer course to me.   Warmer day, dry but very windy.  I pushed my drive to the right of the fairway.   I hit a hybrid to 100 yards.   My third shot, I hit my gap wedge online, one bounce and it stuck in the cup.

My luck has run out for the year.

Pushed my drive on number 10, smacked a tree and shot way backwards to recently drained swamp area. Thick, dead St. Augustine grass and reeds. The ball wasn't buried so got lucky on that. Had 130yds to the middle of the green but had to hit a big draw to go around the very tree that got me me on the drive. Hit a beautiful, soft high 9i and watched the ball draw perfectly onto the back middle of the green about 30’ from the pin. Saved par.

Botched my drive on the first par 5 of the round and compounded the mistake on the next two hits. The forth hit leaves me off the green about 12 yards from the hole. I determine my best option is to chip the ball so it lands short of the green  and allow the ball to run mostly on the ground to the hole. I opt to go with a 7 iron for the chip and strike it perfectly and directly on line right to the center of the cup. Probably nothing spectacular but it was my first chip in ever so I was thrilled.

    • Akshay Bhatia beat him in a playoff last year I think. He went something like -7 on his last 7 holes to get into a playoff and then rinsed a wedge on the 1st extra hole in a way that would have made Tommy (and Rory) blush.
    • Tristan, did you end up getting the new Edel wedges?  I'm very about due for new wedges.  I was trying other configurations a few years ago and somehow my 54 and 58 are both hand-me-downs that I never got around to getting as new and fitted, and my last new-as-in-new wedges were Ping Glides a long time ago.  I was thinking of Edel wedges earlier today, although their website seems to list only two fitters.   Did you end up getting them, and if so, what do you think of them?
    • @colin007, in terms of realistic sci-fi, its the best ever. They actually had an astrophysicist consult on the movie to be as accurate as possible with what we know about the universe.  For like dystopian, Blade Runner is probably king. Action/suspense is probably Alien/Aliens. Though Starship Troopers is fantastic. The Matrix is amazing.
    • Day 4 (August 14).  Full swing in my indoor practice room;  6-iron, off a mat, into a net.  Focus was on what I believe was my priority piece at last lesson (which, admittedly, was almost three years ago, due to absence).  I hit about a dozen balls this morning before going into the office.  (Also, errata to yesterday:  9 of the 12 coins were picked up on the second or third go around -- you can't pick up one on the first go around for that drill)
    • Watched The Gentlemen, took a little bit to get into it, but very good Guy Ritchie movie.  Collin Farrell and Hugh Grant were great. Give it a birdie.
