Just got done playing in my fourball tournament match, we won 3-0.    Didn't see this until now.

So,Thank you @iacas It will be an honor being a member of the East, I mean winning, team.    

And looking forward to meeting old and new friends, both to play with and against.  Going to be a lot of fun!  

I don't need no stinking cigar.  LOL

So the East team keeps staying mature, us old guys have to keep together.

Red Team

Michael is a TST staffer, long time member and lives in the Pacific Northwest. He's has been playing golf for close to 20 years and he's currently a 5 handicap.

Michael has contributed some great content for the site with his reviews, blogs and TST staff predictions articles. He was on the previous Newport Cup and I was very impressed with his clutch play. His consistency and sweet swing are going to be a huge asset to the team.

For the fifth member of the 2017 Newport Cup team, the Las Vegas Golden Knights select… errr… sorry, got carried away there. Free agency starts tomorrow in the NHL and all, and the Pens need a bottom 4 D-man and one or two centers for the third/fourth lines.

I'm picking Nate, @cipher, this month. The man needs no introduction, and so, will not receive one.  Plus, I think he's going to beat me at disc golf the days before the Newport Cup, though I will have to take care to remind him to protect his arm and not tire out his triceps or something. He may need those to hoist the Newport Cup. It does weigh almost a pound.

Nate:

• makes the East team younger on average.
• is picking me up on his way down south.
• missed out on the 2015 Newport Cup due to his injury, but has returned to form in plenty of time.
• hopes to avoid temperature/humidity combinations above 140.
• eats his vegetables. Dumbass.
• is accurate with a bow and arrow, a rifle, and a baitcaster.
• lied about snoring. Maybe.
• is giving everyone else on the East team a free top-of-the-line Matthews bow!
• has no idea that I'm making this list and the promises therein for him.
• crashed his drone recently.
• bought a drone not quite as recently.
• is one of the best dudes you'll ever meet, once you crack him open.
• has a more impressive beard than most.
• warrants at least ten more bullet points, but I'm too feeble minded to come up with them.

Red Team

Daniel is from Colorado and is use to playing in cold, wet weather, which we might run into at Pinehurst in October (hopefully not). Daniel credits TST for getting his handicap to mid-single digits even while having a baby, impressive stuff. Even recently his game has been trending in the right direction with great scores and doing good work on Evolvr.

This will be Daniel's first Newport Cup and he's going to be a great addition to the team. I look forward to meeting and hanging out with him in person.

My nickname for Daniel is going to be "Happy Feet",  (watch the swing below). If I was the Blue Team I'd be very worried to play a guy who is an Evolvr student and can channel a little Arnold Palmer followthrough
