Im torn on this one. I like Rickie, and I think this move brings a broader audience into golf, but some traditions/etiquette are in place for a reason. I guess as long as you don’t look bad it works? Untucked is the new trend in business casual.

What are your thoughts?

The heathen!   Let’s burn him at the stake!

Honestly, if the PGA lets him do it, it’s no big.   Of course they’ve been messing with the LPGA dress code, so who knows?

I'm good with it. I don't think that it is a big deal.

I don't think that it would be a bad thing to let the guys wear shorts either.

Don't care either way. I'm trying to wrap my head around this, from the article:

Quote

Rickie will debut Puma Golf’s new Aloha collection, an assortment of apparel, accessories and footwear designed to celebrate both Rickie's Japanese heritage and the relaxed vibe of the Hawaiian Islands.

What exactly does Hawaiian-inspired clothing have to do with his Japanese heritage?

Well, it's a Hawaiian shirt. You don't tuck those in. It's not a polo. They just commented that "I don't think we'll see that outside of Hawaii" or something.

I'm undecided.

The humanity!

It doesn't matter any to me, though I think untucked shirts look really goofy with long slacks. (And that's coming from someone who hates tucking shirts in.)

It's cool IMO. Don't think it will catch fire with other type of 'golf' shirts. They don't look the same.

I think it looks good, and its appropriate for Hawaii.  I wouldn't encourage him to take it back to the mainland.

As for his heritage, Hawaii is as big a melting pot as anywhere, and Japanese have been around Hawaii for  a long time.  Japanese, Portugese, western Pacific islanders, Chinese, English, Americans (who are all mutts of one kind or another)  Maybe some of the aloha shirts incorporate Japanese designs, I don't know.

I'm fine with it on Rickie who can pull it off. If someone like Dufner was wearing it I'd likely have voted differently!

I stopped being lazy and Googled it.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aloha_shirt

Apparently the first Aloha Shirts were sold by a Japanese immigrant. Guess that counts for something.

They're also apparently considered formal attire for government and businesses, so it's like he's wearing a suit and tie to play golf. He will be overdressed out there ;-)

It's fine in Hawaii, but not anywhere else IMO.

Jim Furyk wore or maybe wears a full-button shirt that I always thought looked nice. Was tucked though. Fowler 's colorful attire is part of his "brand" I guess. He will be OK in the new duds. -Marv

I'm the opposite.  Untucked shirts hide the belly fat, more appropriate for Dufner.  Those with athletic waistelines, tucked shirts look good.

I suppose for the occasion it is ok. Looks odd at first sight but that’s ok. Good for him. Likeable dude.

I agree untucked hides the gut, but I feel on the golf course Duf would look more like Carl Spackler than a pro.

I liked the look, except was there a button missing? Living in Hawaii I can and do wear an Aloha daily for work and chilling at home but when I went back and looked for golf foto’s I found none wearing one. So I’ll check out what they are offering....after all, I still have puma like reflexes on 2 wheels.

Missed todays coverage b/c I was out golfing! Love the 1st, 8th, 17 & 18 on this course.

Aloha,

Im with @tristanhilton85on this one as i also think players should be allowed to wear tailored shorts on tour as well. Im sure we all know the feeling of going out on an overcast day in trousers only for the sun to come out mid round. That feeling of trousers sticking to sweaty legs :~(.

On the Puma shirt front i think it looks quite tastefull. Not sure i could carry it off though without looking like a crap northern darts player :-D (Still working off the mince pies from xmas)
