Meh.  If they were one and two in the world rankings, OK.  If they're both long past contending on tour, and it's a nostalgia match, OK.  But right now, they're a couple of players who are still competing on tour, but with mixed results at best.  Phil's having a pretty good year, but he's still struggling to stay in the world top 20, and Tiger is struggling to get into the world top 50.

Yeah, I'll watch, but only because there's nothing else good on TV.

I don't know how much Tiger is really struggling to get into the top 50.  Take away the artificial 40 in the OWGR formula and he would be ranked in the top 20.  So he is not top 50 de jure, but he is certainly is top 20 de facto.

But then again, what the hell do I know?

Right. Tiger's ranking is low because he missed a lot of events.

if it comes to be I'd certainly watch. But, I think it would be more interesting if they put up their own money! Phil is notorious for this in practice rounds, saying he can't get jazzed for the round unless there's a little something, something on the line!

Well, put up 10 Mill, Phil, and let's see how jazzed up you get! And it wouldn't have to be that much, even though both can afford it. Whatever sum they would agree upon would be donated by the winner to the charity of their choice!

And as far as miking them up, I'm all for it! Remember the "Battle at Bighorn"? As Tiger and Annika walk from the first green to the second tee, Tiger says, "Boy! Did we hack the shit out of that hole, or what?!"

Yep - I was skimming through all the responses, thinking the exact same thing, seeing if anyone else had the same idea. As others have also said, this is 10 years too late and right now, just a made for TV moneymaker for both of them. I think the winner take all part is B.S. Put up your own money guys and have at it.

That being said, I'll probably watch. Then again, I watched Geraldo opening up Al Capone's safe. Somehow this all feels the same.

At least from Tiger's words, they really developed a friendship when Phil reached out to Tiger when he was hurt. I will tune for this patch. I like the idea of these 1v1 matches.

Sounds cool, would probably watch it after the fact, not sure I'd tune in live. I really don't watch much golf anymore. I'll pull up a live stream during the majors or on pgatour live sometimes, but I really don't follow the PGA all the much in recent years. That said, listening to their banter during the round would probably be the coolest thing about it.

No. The business IS setting up and owning these types of matches.

    • Hello Golfing Buddies, It has been awhile since I posted but I am the Retired Old Man that asked for advice because I suffered two "T.I.A.'s about switching from playing right handed to playing left handed.  I purchased a Callaway Edge Left handed golf clubs. I changed the grips to oversize grips.  Well, two weeks ago and still at 79 years old, I shot a 44 and 47 on a small course in my hometown.  I am currently changing my shafts from regular flex to Senior flex.  So, you can see' it can be done! So, you other old timers; get with the program! Blessings to all of you. Retired Old Man (Terry Warner)

    • Probably since the golfer has to swing the club back and up. The hands have to move back and up. You can feel them go back and up just by turning the shoulders and bending the right arm, because it brings your hands towards your right shoulder.  The difference is if you maintain width or not. Less width means a shorter feeling swing path so the more you need to lift the arms. Being as someone who gets the right arm bend at 110+ degrees, it's 100% a timing issue. I am use to like a 1.5+ second backswing. It probably should be like 1 second at most. Half a second or more will feel like an eternity. I have had swings where I keep my right arm straighter and I am still trying to time the downswing based on the old tempo.  Ideally, for me, it is probably going to be a much quicker and shorter (in duration) backswing, while keeping the right elbow straighter. Which also means more hinging to get swing length without over swinging.

    • I'm currently recuperating from surgery, so no golf, but have been thinking about this quite a bit. This and the don't overbend the right arm thing. It's hard for me to even pose the position, so I'm not 100% sure, but I feel like it's impossible to have the right humerus along the shirt seam and not overbend your right arm, unless your hands are down near your hips. If the left arm is up at or above the shoulder plane and your right arm is bent less than 90 degrees, then your right humerus has to raise or your hands will get pulled apart. Your left hand can't reach your right hand unless either the right upper arm is up or the right arm is overbent. Is that right? If it is, then focusing on not overbending the right arm would force you to raise the humerus. And actually thinking further on it, if you do overbend your right arm, then you're basically forcing your upper arm down or forcing your left arm to bend. Since (for me at least) bending the left arm too much is not something I think I need to worry about, it means that the bend in the trail arm is really the driving force behind what happens to the right humerus.
